Reporting to a member of the Senior Leadership Team, we are looking for an experienced and dynamic individual to fill the role of Senior Manager, Communications and Engagement. This position is responsible for planning, implementing and directing the communications, media relations, issues management and civic engagement strategy, functions and programs for the City.

As a respected and strategic leader in communications and engagement, you will bring a demonstrated track record of success in a public service context. You will be a creative and inspiring communicator, a compelling spokesperson, an excellent writer, a trusted advisor at all levels of an organization, and an inspiring and responsible leader to your team. You are politically savvy and a true relationship builder, forming meaningful relationships with stakeholders at all levels internally and externally.

Leading a team of talented professionals, you will be responsible for leading communications and engagement supporting all City departments, including providing strategic and tactical communications advice; developing and managing communication strategies, plans and policy; overseeing content development for communications channels (website, print, social media, advertising); directing and managing communications during emergency/incident events; and building relationships with other municipalities, community groups, business associations, stakeholders and other interested parties in support of Council and organizational priorities.

You will have a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Media Relations, Journalism or Media Operations, or a related field, with at least 5 - 7 years of strategic communications and public engagement experience. Additionally, you will have excellent communications, project management and leadership attributes as well as proven interpersonal and management skills with the ability to guide and direct a team of professionals and build a cohesive and collaborative work environment.
