JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation Inc. (OPG) is looking for a professional with a combination of Legal, Commercial and Supply Chain experience to join our team in the role of Senior Manager, Commercial Management & New Nuclear in our Oshawa or Downtown location.

Reporting to the Director, Commercial Management & New Nuclear the Senior Manager, Commercial Management & New Nuclear will utilize their experience to assist with the commercial aspects of material contracts for OPG mega projects, along with developing an intellectual property strategy. This role is accountable for developing and obtaining approval for contract strategies, supporting business development and procurement process, as well as managing the administration of executed contracts, including change management, contract compliance, dispute resolution and contract audit processes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Commercial Management activities

  • Develop strategies and ultimately contracts to support business development activities
  • Manage supplier/vendor relationship for major contracts
  • Understand client expectations and vendor performance to ensure suppliers meet/exceed customer expectations and contract fulfillment; collaborate with vendors to achieve success.
  • Develop and implement contract management strategies within the department. Work to execute the strategy and integrate with department and client groups to ensure process and compliance expectations are met.
  • Ensure business processes between OPG and the service providers are effective and efficient.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality services through the creation, monitoring and enforcement of contracts and contractual performance objectives. Manage and report on performance of services received from vendors.
  • Monitor and ensure the delivery of value-add services provided by the vendor.
  • Oversee the vendor relationships in the context of compliance requirements.
  • Manage risk with the vendor, conduct on-going due diligence to comply with governance and contract objectives.
  • Ensure departmental alignment with the company\'s goals and objectives with clear accountabilities and responsibilities.
  • Promote use of leading practices in development of contract strategies and contract administration
Intellectual Property Strategy
  • Support business development activities at the corporate level, leveraging existing project knowledge to drive new nuclear commercial growth.
  • Develop a commercially savvy IP contracting strategy across the New Nuclear business segment including data management, processes and approach to valuation
  • Ensure consistent implementation of such IP strategy across mega projects
  • Understand and leverage IP valuation to develop monetization strategies with 3rd parties
EDUCATION
  • Minimum 4-year university degree; Engineering, Law, Science or Business
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment.
  • Significant experience working with commercial contracts preferably supporting infrastructure construction, EPC or energy organizations;
  • Experience developing strategy to support business development activities
  • Experience working in a Law firm or as in-house counsel is an asset.
  • Experience in contract negotiation, vendor management and dispute management;
  • People management experience;
  • Demonstrated analytical and creative thinking skills to examine, build and negotiate contracting strategies;
  • Strong problem solving skills to address and overcome current and future challenges;
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills to execute time sensitive deliverables;
  • A results-oriented focus is essential, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment and effectively manage multiple deliverables simultaneously;
  • People and team oriented with a strong ability to establish an excellent level of confidence, credibility and cooperation with OPG\'s internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and written, is essential;
  • Ability to present information clearly and effectively;
  • A drive to achieve best value for money, meeting business objectives in a high profile, strategic, rapidly evolving and competitive environment while improving the customer experience and upholding OPG\'s behaviours and values.
