Job Brief
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for providing overall support to the Plant manager, managing the activities of the Maintenance staff and including hands-on maintenance of the production lines, other mechanical equipment throughout the facility and building requirements. This role will perform repairs and help in the operation, monitoring, and performance of preventative maintenance as necessary.
Responsibilities
Conduct daily tours of the plant to inspect machinery, equipment, and overall plant conditions.
Perform regular checks on approximately 30-40 types of machines and equipment to ensure they are functioning properly.
Develop and manage maintenance schedules for both preventative and scheduled maintenance tasks.
Monitor the effectiveness of maintenance activities and adjust schedules as needed to address any emerging issues.
Liaise with contractors (currently 2) to coordinate external maintenance work and ensure it aligns with plant operations.
Prepare and review maintenance reports detailing completed tasks, ongoing issues, and overall maintenance performance.
Track the status of ongoing maintenance issues and ensure that they are being addressed in a timely manner.
Review and verify the tasks completed by maintenance technicians to ensure they meet quality standards.
Check maintenance care for any pending or open tickets.
Weekly plant tour/meeting with the Plant Manager to check and discuss plant conditions, maintenance activities, and any issues identified during the plant tour.
Conduct regular weekly meetings with the Maintenance Coordinator to review the status of machines, including the number currently down or in need of repair.
Oversee monthly preventative maintenance schedule to ensure all equipment and machinery are regularly serviced and maintained.
Monitor and review monthly maintenance-related costs, including materials, and contractor services, to track expenditures.
Ensure employees consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Adhere to Occupational Health & Safety Act standards for safe work practices.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) regulations at all times.
Manage a team of 8 direct reports, including Line Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, and a Maintenance Planner.
Spend 50% of the time supervising the daily activities of maintenance staff ensuring tasks are performed according to schedule and standards.
Work closely with the production team to align maintenance schedules with production needs, minimizing downtime.
Work with QA to schedule and perform re recalibration and maintenance of equipment critical to quality assurance processes.
Make decisions on the prioritization and scheduling of maintenance tasks, determining which repairs or maintenance activities should be addressed first based on urgency, production impact, and resource availability.
Evaluate the condition of equipment and make informed decisions on whether to repair or replace machinery. Buying of new equipment or parts needed.
Make decisions related to the hiring, training, and development of maintenance staff.

Probationary Period: 3 months or 480 hours, whichever longer

Shift Requirement: Must be flexible on Sunday to Fridays depending on operation needs
Compensation: $120,000 per year

Qualifications
Have 3+ years of managerial experience
Previous trade or related experience
Basic computer knowledge
Mechanical experience or certifications
Excellent troubleshooting skills
High School Diploma
Knowledge in the food service industry, preferably the produce sector
