Job Overview


Reporting to VP of Operations, and working closely with Operations and Engineering, the Maintenance Manager provides leadership and direction to the Maintenance team to ensure the targets for equipment availability, equipment reliability and maintenance costs are achieved.

Responsibilities



Budgeting

- Develops, implements, and maintains the Maintenance budget, plans and policies to support the achievement of operational and strategic business goals.

Planning

- Creates a comprehensive multi-year plan for the department to uphold ongoing plant reliability and reduce downtime, aligning with SWDCI production objectives.

Leading and Managing

-Provides guidance and direction to the Maintenance team to ensure their activities are in line with SWDCI business goals, policies and practices.
- Provides technical advice and coaching to maintenance technicians.

- Provide consultation to contractors, including technical guidance and support during Capex projects.

Maintenance Programs -

Research, procure, and implement all required department systems and infrastructure, including CMMS, inventory management, maintenance shop utilities, spare parts inventory, and maintenance warehouse.

Maintenance Programs

-Leads all facility, plant and equipment maintenance programs at SWDCI. In addition, will work with Engineering on any related projects, including all civil, mechanical and electrical installations.

Capital Projects -

Lead assigned small to medium size capex projects including, design, project management, procurement, commissioning and startup.

Managing Relationships

- Manages workforce and industry stakeholder relationships, under diverse expectations, to maintain effective, efficient operations of all facilities. In addition, maintains and develops business relationships and negotiates with key suppliers for the provision of maintenance services and equipment.

Continuous Improvement

- Assesses and makes recommendations on applicability of industry best practices and leads process improvement teams/initiatives. Data driven, for decision making and planning.
- Builds processes and metrics that empower the maintenance department to improve process uptime.

- Utilize data to identify the root cause of machine failures and put corrective actions in place to reduce mean time between failures.

- Research, procure, and implement predictive maintenance systems on all critical assets.

Problem Solving

- Identifies and resolves complex and/or sensitive operations/stakeholder issues, applying sound business strategies that align with Company practices and policies.

Decision Making

- Exercises judgment on senior-level decisions/issues that fall within Maintenance practices and policies.

Safety

- Ensures Maintenance practices are in compliance with Health Safety Security and Environment polices and procedure. Participate and support the employer representatives on the Site Safety Committee.
- Inventory Management:

- Maintain accurate records of all spare parts, tools, and equipment in the maintenance department.

- Regularly conduct inventory checks to ensure optimal stock levels are maintained.

- Coordinate with suppliers to replenish stock and negotiate favorable terms.

- Receive, inspect, and organize incoming shipments of spare parts and supplies.

- Create and process purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of required items.

Other

- Performs related duties in keeping with the purpose and accountabilities of the job

Education/Experience



4+ years maintenance experience preferably in the food industry Certification / Licensure Required for Job: Industrial Red Seal Electrician and / or Red Seal Millwright Bachelor's in Engineering or equivalent Previous experience in a leadership and/or similar role Committed to safety and teamwork Valid driver's license

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:



Demonstrate the ability to lead QMS team and manage the implementation of QMS and HACCP. Ability to train employees for QMS and HACCP. Ability to implement an internal audit program for QMS. Demonstrate the ability to effectively coordinate and plan day to day research activities. A high degree of technical competence in order to effectively execute responsibilities. Strong analytical skills. Ability to plan, coordinate and implement projects; good organizational and time management skills, with an ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent ability to gather, consolidate and disseminate technical information. Well developed verbal and written communications skills. Well developed interpersonal skills.

People Management:



Lead QMS team and provide training on HACCP and FSSC 22000 to all employees. Manage lab technologists to support operations, quality systems and R&D initiatives. Provide training and technical guidance to lab technologists and operators as required.

A thorough knowledge of electro / mechanical actuated valves. A thorough knowledge of pneumatic / hydro transfer system design and maintenance General knowledge of piping and valve maintenance A thorough knowledge of Centrifugal pumps and seals. Experience working with Distributed Process controls systems. Experience with Burner Management Systems. Solid understanding of maintenance management cycle for facilities, upgrades and expansions and overall asset preservation methodology. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) Superior planning and organizational skills including effective time management Exceptional customer focused orientation and drive for results Working knowledge of WCB, environmental and Federal government regulations as it relates to employee and company compliance; personal safety, chemical handling, and WHMI
