As our growth continues, we are looking to hire an experienced SENIOR MACHINIST - AFTERNOON SHIFT.Located in Barrie, Ontario, PRODOMAX AUTOMATION LTD. is a specialized industrial engineering firm focused on designing complex automation with a blue-chip customer base since 1971. Operating from two facilities totaling 200,000 square feet with 200+ employees; we are ISO 9001:2015 certified.JENOPTIK, our parent company, is an integrated photonics company that employs approximately 4,000 people with representatives in over 80 countries, and operates in three photonic-based divisions: Light and Optics, Light and Production and Light and Safety.Job Summary:The Senior Machinist - Afternoon Shift will be responsible for manufacturing components in a machine shop environment and will report directly to the Machine Shop Lead.The hours for the afternoon shift are 3:30 pm to 2:00 am, Monday to Thursday.Shift premium will apply.Job Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret drawings and determine work and/or repair procedures
• Set up and operate to prescribe tolerances on lathes, mills, surface grinders, and saws
• Select mechanical measuring, checking and layout tools and devices
• Execute measuring, checking and layout operations
• Perform metal removing operations using hand and power cutting tools
• Fit and assemble parts and sub-assemblies to build special-purpose machinery
• Some heavy lifting - up to 50 lbs. Bending twisting and ladder climbing are required.
• Mentor and lead Apprentices, Junior, and Intermediate Machinists

Qualifications, skills and abilities

• English language

Job Qualifications:

• Completion of an apprenticeship program for Machinist and holds a General Machinist 429A Certificate of Qualification
• Minimum 5+ years direct working experience
• The ability to Set up, program and operate ACU-RITE NC knee milling machines is an asset.
• HAAS CNC set up and operation is an asset.
• Positive attitude.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, disciplined approach to work.
• Ability to work well as a member of a team.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
• Ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints.
• Excellent conflict resolutions skills.
• Excellent judgment and strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand the financial impact of relevant options.
• High energy and the flexibility to perform under short time constraints to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work regular and/or continental shift (when required)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Bending, twisting and ladder climbing are required.
• Ability to work overtime.
• Ability to travel.
