Responsibilities:

Ensure proactive maintenance of all trucks and trailers, including: + Daily walkaround inspections by drivers + Scheduling and completing Commercial Vehicle Inspections (CVIs)
+ Managing seasonal tire changes and supplying chains for trucks
Set up delivery routes, track driver route times, and adjust for traffic, weather, and driver absences Ensure accurate electronic logs and compliance with Hours of Service regulations; book ferries as needed Complete and submit accident/incident reports promptly to the OH&S Manager Monitor freight costs for Common Carriers; conduct annual RFQs to prevent price creep; report monthly cost per kilometer per route (including Lordco runs) Monitor and report daily delivery service levels, focusing on missed shipments, damages, and late deliveries Collaborate with Director of Distribution and Finance on capital expense submissions for annual budgeting Support Satellite Distribution Center Managers by ensuring adequate drivers and equipment to meet delivery demands Manage direct reports, including hiring, training, coaching, disciplining, evaluating, and scheduling break coverage Identify and report unsafe practices or work conditions to Safety Committee Members Maintain current knowledge of product handling, including Dangerous Goods, fragile items, weights, and packaging requirements Submit weekly updates and monthly reports to the Director of Distribution Perform other duties as assigned

Standards

Ensure all drivers are trained in TDG, maintain electronic trip logs, and perform daily vehicle inspections Complete overnight deliveries to stores by 9:00 a.m. at the latest Keep skid shortages under 1% of total monthly shipped skids Hold monthly team meetings to discuss safety, challenges, and successes Submit weekly updates every Friday and month-end reports by the 5th business day of the following month to the Director of Distribution

Goals and Objectives

Develop options to improve service to the Kootenays, including times, costs, pros, and cons by December 15, 2025 Produce a Request for Quote (RFQ) for common carriers by January 1, 2026 Collaborate with Continuous Improvement Manager to develop KPIs (e.g., cost/km, on-time delivery, volume of skids, damage rates) by December 31, 2025 Conduct annual performance reviews and meet individually with drivers by June 2026

Ideal Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Minimum 5 years' experience leading logistics, routing, and shipping operations Certified in Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Familiarity with Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement (CVSE) and Commercial Vehicle Inspection (CVI) regulations

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Team-oriented with flexibility to undertake various duties supporting organizational success Proficient with basic Microsoft Office applications Strong math skills and attention to detail Solid understanding of SDS, WHMIS, TDG, and health & safety regulations Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities Strategic thinker capable of providing vision and leadership to the team
