ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing strategic and practical advice on a wide variety of legal and regulatory matters, including proactively identifying risks and mitigation approaches
  • Key focus will be in connection with Enerkem\'s project development and execution in multiple jurisdictions, where you will be involved in drafting, reviewing and negotiating various types of commercial contracts, including relating to engineering services, construction, feedstock and offtake, operations, joint ventures, intellectual property (licensing, R&D), core equipment supply
  • Providing legal support as required to all business units on various legal and contractual issues
  • Providing leadership in the development and updating of internal templates and precedents, and in the development, updating and implementation of policies and procedures, including relating to privacy, ESG and intellectual property protection
  • Ensuring contracts and transactions comply with the company\'s policies and business objectives, and with applicable laws and regulations
  • Contributing to the coaching and mentoring of other team members
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in law
  • Member in good standing of the Quebec Bar and/or of another Canadian jurisdiction
  • 8-10 years of experience practicing corporate and commercial law, either in a law firm or an in-house environment
  • Experience in renewable energy, intellectual property, project development/execution, project financing, engineering and/or construction an asset
  • Bilingual French/English (written & spoken)

  • High degree of autonomy, ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to provide practical advice to address legal risks while meeting commercial objectives
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and providing agile counsel on a wide range of legal, regulatory and commercial matters
