Neo is looking for a full-time in-person Senior Legal Counsel to join our team in Calgary, AB. What you'll be doing:

  • Provide strategic and legal advice on a broad range of practice areas including corporate/commercial, regulatory, employment and IP matters
  • Independently structure, draft, negotiate and review complex commercial and relationship agreements with third parties, including identifying legal and business risks and collaborating on solutions
  • Anticipate and address legal issues to protect the interests of Neo and reduce exposure to legal risks
  • Draft internal policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with legal requirements
  • Support legal updates to all customer facing disclosures and agreements
  • Develop and maintain form agreements, contract management systems, and other databases
  • Develop and implement processes for efficient and streamlined operations surrounding contract negotiation
  • Conduct legal research and provide concise and fit for purpose legal advice to internal stakeholders, in a timely manner
  • Manage external legal counsel, as required
Who we're looking for:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Law (L.LB) or Jurist Doctor (J.D.)
  • A member of, or eligible for membership in, the Law Society of Alberta
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in either private practice or in-house with experience in one or more of following practice areas: corporate/commercial, consumer disclosure, regulatory, and employment
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the banking, fintech or financial services sectors
  • Proven ability to think strategically and provide business units with concise analysis and recommendations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Strong organization and time management skills and the ability to meet short deadlines and prioritize work
