Our Senior Technical Program Manager position is a technology-leader role that influences how we operate at TELUS; responsible for not only ensuring that Technology initiatives are delivered on-plan, but also ensuring collaboration and enablement amongst our cross-functional teams.

As a Senior IT Project Manager you will drive highly visible strategic and tactical programs and projects that span across multi-disciplinary teams achieving an effective balance between business needs and transformational goals. This role is not just creating/managing plans, resolving issues and reporting status; it requires a leader with a deep rooted passion for technology who thrives in a fast paced environment and employs a unique personal commitment to the success of the team.

What you'll do

  • Project management: Managing projects to plan, execute, monitor, and close system implementation projects
  • Stakeholder Management: Establishing a great partnership with both technology and business teams to inform and influence decisions with senior leadership
  • Leverage your technical acumen to work with key cross functional stakeholders on technical strategy and and solution designs that address both business and technical roadmaps.
  • Build and inspire a culture of "everyday innovation" within our team
  • Provide regular program updates to stakeholders, including executives
  • Critical Thinking: In our fast-changing business, you will be required to deep dive into a new area, learn its complexities, present your findings and insights to the leadership team and execute on plan - all within tight timelines
  • Ability to understand technical domain and leverage continuous improvement to enable flow.
  • Coach and mentor high performing and developing team members
Qualifications

What you bring
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in leading enterprise technology initiatives
  • Fluency in program/project management and agile or lean practices
  • Broad experience with software engineering practices and process evolution
  • With your exceptional communication skills, you tactfully collaborate with teams across business areas and influence decisions with more senior-level audiences
  • You have experience with establishing a performance management framework that identifies trends for impact and opportunity while aligning metrics / KPIs to strategies driving desirable outcomes
  • Recognized for your exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving, financial, and negotiation skills
  • A passion to seek out, understand and apply new technologies/practices that enable positive outcomes
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and a proven ability to influence change within a large organization
Education and Experience
  • Post secondary degree in Engineering or Software Development
  • Professional designation in project/program management
  • Agile and/or lean certification
