Position Title: Senior IT Financial Analyst
Reports To: Manager, IT Asset, Financial, and Vendor Management
Department: IT Infrastructure
Term: Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangements: We are currently working remotely, and we will be moving to a hybrid model when our office renovation is complete (approximately November 2023), coming into the office a minimum of 2 days per week, every other week on designated days.

The Opportunity: Equitable Life is growing! We are looking to add a Senior IT Financial Analyst to our IT Infrastructure team! The Senior IT Financial Analyst is responsible for the financial initiatives and insights of all IT expenses throughout the organization.

What you will be doing:

\xc2\xb7 Support the implementation of financial reporting changes and update accounting policies to ensure the Company is compliant with IFRS, OSFI, CLHIA and other regulations including the implementation of new accounting standards

\xc2\xb7 Prepare and analyze IT specific financial reports for Board and Management purposes

\xc2\xb7 Liaise with business areas regarding complex accounting and/or financial reporting issues/questions

\xc2\xb7 Able to interpret, illustrate and communicate financial information to others

\xc2\xb7 Apply business knowledge and new concepts to analyze problems and make recommendations

\xc2\xb7 Ensure robust controls exist over the accounting tied to business activities

\xc2\xb7 Participate in any system change or project that impacts business transactions or accounting

\xc2\xb7 Develop and deliver accounting models and financial information

\xc2\xb7 Deliver expense and budgeting information to appropriate stakeholders

\xc2\xb7 Ensure documentation of procedures for account reconciliation and internal controls is prepared and maintained to reduce operational risk

\xc2\xb7 Automate and improve various processes as required to reduce risk and improve efficiency

\xc2\xb7 Teach, train and mentor stakeholders on key processes and procedures

\xc2\xb7 Preparation and analysis of the financial reporting package including line of business commentary

\xc2\xb7 Develop financial reporting benchmarks against peers and other sources (e.g. Gartner)

\xc2\xb7 Co-ordinate all aspects of the annual IT business plan process (working closely with all accountable IT Management and financial stakeholders)

\xc2\xb7 Coordinate / liaise IT budgets with other divisional stakeholders

\xc2\xb7 Maintain and enhance the MIS reporting processes, ensure accuracy of actual and plan information and distribute to management as needed

\xc2\xb7 Create and maintain robust IT accounting policies and procedures

\xc2\xb7 Divisional oversight and implementation of new accounting standards and financial reporting updates

\xc2\xb7 Identify and implement improvements to our finance processes

\xc2\xb7 Improve communication between the various areas involved in finance processes

\xc2\xb7 Provide a forum to discuss issues, new developments, train and educate those involved in finance processes

\xc2\xb7 Act as a backup to other ITAFVM staff to help with purchasing and other accounting-related duties

What you will bring:

\xc2\xb7 Minimum three (3) years in an IT financial analysis and planning role

\xc2\xb7 Has obtained the Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation (or international equivalent)

\xc2\xb7 Post-secondary educations with emphasis on accounting and business administration

\xc2\xb7 ITIL v3 Foundations certification a strong asset

\xc2\xb7 Expert knowledge and experience with general accounting concepts

\xc2\xb7 Expert knowledge and experience in the planning, management, and analysis of enterprise IT financials

\xc2\xb7 Foundational knowledge and understanding of technology delivery as they pertain to financial management

\xc2\xb7 Advanced knowledge of business risk and financial controls

\xc2\xb7 Expert knowledge and capabilities in software tools related to financial analysis and management (e.g. Excel, PowerBI)

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge and experience with specific IT financial management systems (e.g. ServiceNow) considered a strong asset

\xc2\xb7 Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with focus and attention to detail

\xc2\xb7 Excellent innovator and critical thinker

\xc2\xb7 Excellent communications (written, verbal, presentation) and negotiation skills and experience with conveying complex, technical information to non-technical audiences

\xc2\xb7 Handles extremely critical and sensitive information with the strictest confidentiality and privacy

\xc2\xb7 An outstanding team player, focused on customer service excellence, technical execution, diligence to the process, and doing the right thing
