Job Overview:
Millennium EMS Solutions Ltd. (MEMS) is committed to implementing and maintaining a vigorous Health, Safety & Environment Program (HSE Program). The strategic duties of this position include tactical planning, implementing safety objectives that integrate into MEMS business plans, assisting in the development of programs such as Behaviour Based Safety, employee engagement activities in safety and the overall development of a safety-conscious culture. This is primarily an office position, however there will be a requirement to travel between MEMS offices and to MEMS work sites (approximately 25% of the time).

Locations: Calgary or Sherwood Park

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promoting a safety culture where health and safety is a priority that must never be compromised
  • Coaching and guiding employees on MEMS HSE management system, health and safety programs, processes, and OHS legislation. This includes providing onsite field presence to deliver constructive feedback through coaching and mentoring
  • Collaborating with MEMS employees to anticipate, identify, evaluate, and determine practical solutions to health and safety risks and issues
  • Managing the identification of health and safety training needs for all employees within the organization, including delivering health and safety presentations and training
  • Assisting with the development and review of HSE documents such as Project Mobilization Checklists, Pre-Job Safety Meetings, and Job Task Hazard Assessments
  • Reviewing and approving contractor\xe2\x80\x99s safety management systems prior to work commencement
  • Participating in MEMS\xe2\x80\x99 JHWSC to help coordinate activities, recommendations, and accountability of issues that are identified
  • Being available outside of office hours to take calls regarding after-hours safety events
  • Developing, reviewing, and/or approving site-specific safety plans and project specific work
  • Coordinating HSE audits such as COR or client assessments to ensure compliance, including necessary and timely corrective actions
  • Conducting field safety inspections and quarterly office safety inspections
  • Coordinating the preparation of documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data
  • Managing effective coordination and scheduling of rental and MEMS leased/owned vehicles, including vendor management and records management
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time, including visits to different MEMS offices; and
  • other duties as required

What You Bring:

  • Relevant college diploma or certificate required, preferably in Occupational Health and Safety related field. Completion of National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is required. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) is considered an asset.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in safety management, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Warehouse experience considered an asset
  • Eligibility for membership in a relevant professional organization is required
  • Must be able to meet the requirements of site access as dictated by MEMS clients. This may include pre-access drug, alcohol, and fitness tests
  • Able to walk, stand, climb, bend forward, kneel down, crawl, reach and grasp, push and pull objects, lift and/or move up to 30 kg, sometimes over the shoulders, repetitive bending and lifting of items, along with repetitive arm movements.
  • Possess a valid, non-GDL Class 5 Drivers license.
