Savanna Well Servicing is hiring! We are looking for an experienced HSE Professional to join our team in Leduc, AB.

This position requires extensive travel to Savanna\'s field operations (anticipated 50% field, 50% office). The ideal individual must be willing to travel to multiple locations in remote rig sites across Alberta and BC.

General Statement of Duties:

  • Under the direction of the HSE Manager, and with the guidance and general direction of the Senior HSE Advisor, the HSE Advisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and administrative efficiency within Savanna\xe2\x80\x99s Canadian Well Servicing division. This dynamic position involves a balanced combination of field engagement and office responsibilities, requiring meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to fostering a robust safety culture.
  • This position requires extensive travel to Savanna\xe2\x80\x99s field operations (50% field; 50% office); however, this split will vary based on operational and administrative priorities.
Summary of Duties (including, but are not limited to the following):

As a dedicated HSE Advisor, your role involves a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Administrative Functions:
  • Compile comprehensive HSE reports for Management review.
  • Maintain and analyze monthly HSE statistics.
  • Foster effective communication with Operational and HSE Management, addressing queries, concerns, and customer requests.
  • Administer HSE Registry Accounts (ComplyWorks, Avetta, and ISNetworld).
  • Collaborate in updating, editing, and distributing HSE materials to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HSE team, including report generation, presentations, and memos.
  • Maintain the electronic inspection system.
  • Assist in the upkeep of the internal document control process.
  • Stay informed about Savanna clients\xe2\x80\x99 safety policies and communicate these requirements to Savanna personnel.
  • Assist in Disability Claims Management activities, including WCB, Modified Duty/Return to Work Program, in coordination with Savanna\xe2\x80\x99s contracted nurse triage/claims management service.
Field Based Functions:
  • Cultivate a culture of personal responsibility and commitment to the environment, safety, and health.
  • Conduct regular field visits, including site inspections to verify the implementation and functioning of operational safety requirements.
  • Educate and mentor personnel on Savanna\xe2\x80\x99s Safety Management System, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in operational safety meetings, pre-job planning meetings, client review meetings, and safety training.
  • Support the incident reporting process and conduct incident investigations, identifying root causes and recommending corrective/preventative actions.
  • Participate in the HSE on-call rotation to address urgent matters.
  • Promote hazard identification, elimination, and control awareness.
  • Develop a solid understanding of well completion practices and associated risks.
  • Stay current on OH&S legislation, industry best practices, and AER requirements.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Technical
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong statistical analysis abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE concepts, regulations, and innovative safety practices.
  • Familiarity with Workers\' Compensation Board (WCB) procedures and claims management.
  • Technical awareness of hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Incident investigation training and experience with the ability to draft thorough reports.
  • Proficient in technical writing.

Education and Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in an HSE-related function, including support for field operations.
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate or Diploma preferred.
  • Demonstrated record of efficiently managing diverse tasks.
  • Sound knowledge of HSE reporting standards and requirements.
  • Incident investigation training and experience (Root Cause Analysis).
  • Working knowledge of OH&S, AER, WCB Regulations, and IRPs.
  • Maintenance of required training certificates and tickets per Savanna\xe2\x80\x99s training matrix for this position (e.g., Standard First Aid, H2S Alive, etc.).
  • Must hold a valid Driver\'s License in good standing with no more than six demerits within the past two years.
Special Conditions:
  • Ability to travel extensively to worksites, work weekends, on-call, and overtime.
  • Ability to work unconventional hours on occasion, as required.
  • Weekly field and office presence will vary based on operational priorities.
