Job Purpose

The Senior HR Business Partner is responsible for ensuring the continued success of a designated Business Unit(s), through the delivery of proactive and strategic HR services responsive to fluctuating business cycles. This role is focused on assisting the Business to deliver on its strategy, ensuring the capability and capacity are developed in the Business to support the successful delivery of strategic objectives and supporting an engaging employee experience aligned with our corporate culture and values.

This is both a strategic and hands-on role that provides full-cycle Human Resources support to our Business to achieve its strategic initiatives. The role is critical in executing our people initiatives, providing great internal support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Acts as the primary point of contact for Business Leaders and employees within a specified client group for all HR items
  • Proactively work with the Manager, Strategic Partnering to continue to evolve the value-added services provided by the People & Culture team
  • Proactively supports the development, implementation, and delivery of all core HR processes in the Business within the broad categories of employee relations, engagement, compensation, recruitment, and learning & development
  • A true partner to SECURE\xe2\x80\x99s leaders; bringing a confident voice to business-critical conversations and decisions and demonstrating expertise through data-driven solutions to ensure people needs and priorities are a key part of SECURE\xe2\x80\x99s business decisions
  • Support continued development of an organizational culture of engaged and enthusiastic employees\xe2\x80\x99 company-wide
  • Participates in regular Leadership meetings and facilitates regular short and long term strategic planning sessions, ensuring HR support for the delivery of strategic objectives and alignment with overall corporate objectives
  • Provide input and support to Leaders to review and design their organizational structure in response to changing business needs and opportunities
  • Proactively analyze complex people issues and trends in the context of Business strategy and recommend appropriate actions
  • Provides guidance and coaching to Leaders in managing highly sensitive and complex employee relations matters, including performance management, progressive discipline, disability management, and developmental plans
  • Supports Leaders in the annual compensation planning process while identifying and managing ongoing competitive market threats, and compensation and benefit issues arising within the Business
  • Works directly with Leaders and the Talent Acquisition team to initiate workforce planning and guide the development of annual staffing plans
  • Provide input and support for mergers and acquisition activity within the Business, assisting with execution and closure, developing integration plans and requirements to ensure the ongoing growth and success of the acquired businesses and assets
  • Provides input into and builds plans to accomplish the annual strategic goals and objectives for the People & Culture team
  • Management and continuous improvement of compensation policies and systems, performance management and training programs
  • Ownership of all statutory and legal requirements related to the recruiting, hiring, retention and termination of employees
Qualifications/Competencies

The individual in this role will have:
  • A degree and/or diploma in Human Resources or Commerce/Management, combined with 10 years of HR business partnering experience
  • Previous experience in energy, oil and gas and/or renewables organizations required
  • CPHR or working towards designation is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with multiple leaders, providing effective guidance and challenge where appropriate
  • Knowledge of HR legislation and applications along with demonstrated project management/change management skills
  • Ability to think strategically and a performance history of implementing scalable solutions that meet current and future business needs
  • Highly developed critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Communicate with impact and credibility, collaborating with team members and in the development and execution of solutions
  • Excellent organizational skills and can handle complex deliverables while addressing urgent issues in a timely manner
  • Strong analytical thinking and ability to analyze trends with data and key metrics to propose recommendations
  • Consult and coach all levels of leadership to build and serve high-performing, diverse and inclusive teams
  • Build credibility and trust among employees; resolve employee concerns with compassion and follow-through
  • Strong coaching, people, management, conflict resolution, relationship and team building skills, and demonstrated ability to influence
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles
  • Proven ability to deal with Executives and Leaders, as well as the ability to persuade and influence decision-makers and key stakeholders
