Job Description


OSG is looking to expand our team of professionals focused on providing high-value and trusted advice to our clients with the addition of a Senior Health & Safety Consultant.

In this role, you will be responsible to provide Health & Safety services and solutions to OSG\xe2\x80\x99s clients, both virtually and in person. You will work collaboratively, building strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders as you develop high-quality solutions, both on time and within budget. As the subject matter expert, the Sr Health and Safety Consultant will ensure a balance between deliverables and the needs of our clients as well as offer tailored suggestions, and upselling when necessary. Additionally, you will also be responsible for health and safety awareness and promotion sharing your industry knowledge through various presentations and webinars to both large and small audiences.

The ideal candidate has experience across multiple industries, is a proficient auditor of HSMS systems, a developer of programs and SOPs, and is comfortable presenting to small and large audiences alike.

This is a work-from-home role with the expectation to travel to client sites within the Southwestern Ontario region.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Thoroughly vetting clients\' requirements to determine their health and safety as well as operational business needs, and creatively proposing solutions that fit those needs and budgets.
  • Implementing appropriate and custom health and safety solutions that fit client needs, while aligning with OSG\xe2\x80\x99s high degree of client satisfaction and retention.
  • Applying time and priority management techniques to effectively address administrative demands (reports, projects, initiatives, etc.) as well as tracking metrics on projects and client engagements.
  • As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), promoting the benefit of various health and safety initiatives while working with clients, and actively looking for opportunities to expand the service offering.
  • Working closely with our Account Managers to ensure deliverables are aligned, executed, and implemented with a focus on client experience and satisfaction.
  • Acting as a SME on internal projects or teams, as assigned - this may include in the process or delivery of webinars, collaborating with the Curriculum team on course development, or during new product development.
  • Participating in OSG\xe2\x80\x99s client outreach and retention activities - this may include accompanying Account Managers on calls, presenting at a conference, writing articles, or hosting webinars.
  • Collaborating with other OSG team members to provide current health & safety expertise and advice on various OSG services and products but also internally within the organization, as well as act as a health and safety mentor.
  • Staying up-to-date with H&S best practices, legislative changes, and initiatives as they apply to the related sectors and industries OSG serves. Communicating these changes internally and any potential new opportunities, which may include new products and services.
Knowledge, Skills & Expertise:
  • Experience consulting in the field of Health & Safety within provincially and federally regulated organizations
  • 7+ years of related industry experience
  • University or college degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, or Occupational Hygiene
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC) required
  • Direct experience in machine guarding application in an industrial or manufacturing setting
  • Strong experience with the development, implementation, and evaluation of best practices in health & safety
  • WSIB case management experience an asset
  • Robust knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Canada Labor Code, Provincial health and safety laws, and CSA standards
  • Advanced technical qualifications in conducting audits and assessments
  • Excellent analytical and report-preparation skills, paired with advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Very comfortable utilizing or learning technology such as Microsoft Suite of Products, CRM (Salesforce), Internal chat (Slack), Google Suite of Products, Webinar recording software, and virtual meeting software
  • Strong interpersonal skills, time management, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Additional Requirements
  • Valid Ontario Drivers license with unrestricted access to operating a motor vehicle
  • Ability to travel across Southwestern Ontario, as needed to visit client sites
  • Home office with reliable internet access
