What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
  • provide technical leadership and guidance in all aspects foundations engineering;
  • provide engineering expertise and act as a specialist on a broad spectrum of issues related to foundation engineering;
  • develop new cost-effective improvements to and assess quality control for compliance


How do I qualify?

Mandatory

  • You are a Professional Engineer, licenced with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).


Foundations Engineering Knowledge

  • You have advanced knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of civil engineering, specifically soil mechanics and foundation engineering.
  • You have advanced knowledge of foundation and geotechnical systems.
  • You have advanced knowledge of buried structures.
  • You have knowledge of geotechnical analysis, design and construction methods.
  • You have knowledge of seismic design, seismic resistance of foundations, and seismic performance for geotechnical systems.
  • You have thorough knowledge of quality assurance methods and techniques.
  • You have knowledge of structural design principles and methods.


Project Management Knowledge and Leadership Skills

  • You have knowledge of project management methodologies and principles to establish the scope of services for foundation engineering projects.
  • You are able to effectively track the progress and control the Foundation Engineering aspects of projects.
  • You are able to provide leadership and guidance to project staff, engineers/technicians/consultants in all aspects of foundation engineering.
  • You can to lead, oversee, approve and evaluate the delivery of foundation engineering services for assigned regions.


Communication and Relationship-Building Skills

  • You have the ability to establish and maintain working relationships.
  • You have excellent communication skills to provide advice and guidance, training and technical presentations.
  • You have the ability and to produce formal specifications, reports, manuals and procedures.
  • You have excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.


Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

  • You have demonstrated analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills to assess foundation engineering and construction problems and to assess quality control for compliance with existing policies, standards, operating guidelines and specifications in the field of foundation engineering.
