Tetra Tech is currently looking to hire an Intermediate/Senior Geotechnical Engineer to be based out of our Lethbridge office. This is an opportunity to work with world-class engineers dedicated to working on civil and geotechnical engineering projects from conceptual design to construction reporting. On occasion your expertise may be needed by our parent company on some of their challenging international projects.

Responsibilities:

• Planning, conducting, and supervising geotechnical investigations
• Evaluating geologic conditions and geotechnical characteristics for assessment and design of shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures and earth structures
• Conducting foundation investigations for commercial, industrial, and high rise developments
• Completing shallow and deep foundation design
• Conducting seismic assessments
• Conducting dam safety reviews and completing remediation designs
• Conducting slope stability and embankment assessments and completing designs
• Participating in small run of the river hydroelectric projects
• Conducting pavement evaluations and completing designs
• Analyzing field data and preparing detailed engineering reports and recommendations
• Communicating with clients and sub-consultants and internal stakeholders
• Conducting construction monitoring activities for various projects

Qualifications:

• 5 to 10 years of experience
• Knowledge of site reconnaissance and investigations to assess site suitability for development of buildings, subdivisions, small dams; slope stability assessments would be considered an asset
• Experience working in a consulting engineering environment at a project management level
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, GeoStudio 2007 Products and MS Office
• Knowledge of geotechnical investigations
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
• Must be or eligible to register as a professional engineer in the Province of Alberta
• Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to contribute to the project by being a team player
• Travel will and may be required in this position, and candidates must be prepared to undertake field assignments
• Must be physically capable of performing the manual field duties required
• Must possess a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) and a clean driving record

Additional Information

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)

To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.
