Working Arrangement Hybrid Reporting to the Director, Canada Operations Expenses, the Senior Financial Analyst will be supporting the finance activities for Operations business partners in the Canada Segment. The Senior Financial Analyst responsibilities will include: delivery of monthly expense results, contributing to the final leader plan/forecast, and helping the achievement of expense results. Focus will be placed on key messages and actionable data to successfully assist the Operations business leaders in the analysis and interpretation of expense information. The incumbent will possess the ability to work with people at all levels of the organization. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing support to functions for forecasting and budget processes. This includes assistance in the consolidation of various cost centers across multiple business divisions .
  • Be responsible for preparing complete and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual expense analysis for the function (e.g. Direct and allocated expenses).
  • Support close processes (accruals, prepaids, etc.) to ensure predictable and accurate reporting.
  • Present ongoing and ad hoc analysis, history and future, to senior management across the Operations functions,
  • Pilot business partners through CERT (expense dashboard) capabilities to ensure awareness of expense data available.
  • Provide analysis within the closed loop process, while communicating with business partners using the primary drivers of expense changes or variances (e.g. volumes, services, CostFit savings, etc).
  • Work closely with function liaisons to understand on inquiries related to direct or allocated charges.
  • Prepare monthly commentary for CERT functional and business unit or segment reporting.
  • Understand and oversee accrual accounts for the function, to ensure they are properly recorded, reconciled and settled in a timely manner.
  • Support financial oversight and validation of project cases. Provide ongoing support of required project reporting to management.
  • Continue to improve processes for higher efficiency and effectiveness, adapting to change and streamlining systems and processes
  • Assist in developing unit cost models around key processing/activities and developing variable/fixed models to support expense model studies.

Qualifications:
  • Accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA) with 5+ years of relevant experience in progressive accounting roles.
  • University degree in business, finance or equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate negotiate and influence effectively.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, particularly in the area of using sound, independent judgment, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Results oriented, able to manage expectations, work under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent customer focus and commitment to quality.
  • Strong business acumen with ability to communicate complex concepts and results in a clear, concise, easy to understand manner (written and verbal).
  • Solid analytical and technical capability - ability to assimilate/summarize a large amount of information from multiple sources and present in a valuable form for senior management
  • Skills related to MS Office in particular Excel and Power BI. Familiarity with Lawson, Essbase, Anaplan

Salary & Benefits The annual base salary for this role is listed below.






Primary Location Waterloo, Ontario Salary range is expected to be between $65,775.00 CAD - $109,625.00 CAD If you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
