Job Overview: We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join our team. This role reports to the Director of Finance and will be responsible for the financial operations of multiple entities within our organization, providing key insights and recommendations to senior leadership, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. As Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for preparing, managing and analyzing financial data, preparing reports and forecasts to support decision-making. You will also be responsible for implementing existing financial policies and procedures, and ensuring that financial statements are accurate and timely. The successful candidate will be a self-starter that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has a strong commitment to deadlines, is detail and process oriented with a high sense of ownership in their work. You should have relevant experience in working with Boards and Committees, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Main responsibilities include: Accounting
Responsible for full cycle accounting and month-end process.
Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of accounting transactions and records.
Prepare and post transactions and journal entries.
Monitor banking transactions and perform monthly bank reconciliations.
Maintain capital asset sub-ledger, including additions and disposals.
Reconcile all general ledger accounts.
Prepare the annual operating and capital budgets.
Forecasts and manages cash flow, including receivables and payables management in accordance with organization priorities.
Annual filing of income tax returns.
Record and reconcile investment transactions at least quarterly.
Audit and Compliance
Coordinate year-end audit with external auditors and responsible for the preparation of all facets of audit.
Prepare all government submissions including T3010, HST and payroll remittances and other required filings.
Complies with CRA legal requirements by staying up to date on new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising the Director of Finance on needed actions.
Reporting and Administration
Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and financial reports, including variance analysis.
Arrange and handle all logistics for Board meetings: schedule meetings; draft agendas; and record meeting minutes.
Coordinates document preparation for Board meetings, ensuring that documents are ready by established deadlines. Compiles and proofreads Board reports and other documents.
Develop and maintain accounting controls in accordance with the organization\xe2\x80\x99s policies and procedures.
Assist with stewardship of investment portfolio.
Other ad-hoc finance and accounting projects.
Skills and Qualifications: \xc2\xb7 Bachelor\'s degree in finance, accounting, or related field. \xc2\xb7 CPA designation will be an asset, but not a requirement. \xc2\xb7 Strong organization and prioritization skills, attention to detail, with high level of accuracy. \xc2\xb7 Effective time management skills and flexibility to work with changing priorities, ability to handle multiple competing priorities. \xc2\xb7 Excellent communication and inter-personal skills. \xc2\xb7 Prior experience in a non-profit or charitable organization is an asset. \xc2\xb7 Strong computer literacy with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products. \xc2\xb7 Experience working with Sage accounting software would be considered a strong asset.
