Responsibilities

The Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A (SFA) contributes to the Simply Group's (SG) financial planning, financial modelling budgeting, and forecasting processes. As a valued business partner, a high level of business acumen will be required as the SFA will engage directly with senior management on analysis and recommendations that will actively influence business decisions. The SFA will also work closely with their respective business units as an active contributor on financial strategy, revenue optimization, expense management and budgeting/forecasting initiatives. The SFA will also be required to work with cross functional teams to model business scenarios and provide financial support on strategic projects and provide decision support to new products and initiatives.

Job Duties

  • Participate in the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for SG and business lines
  • Report, manage, and analyze relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across the business, at the line of business and product levels, including profitability and cost efficiency
  • Prepare relevant and timely management reporting for internal finance consumption and senior leadership
  • Build and manage financial databases by organizing and analyzing a wide range of data sources
  • Provide decision support, including profitability analysis, insights and advice to new products and new initiatives
  • Support the Corporate Development function including M&A activity, New Business Venture & Deal analysis, Investor Relations support and/or enquiries, and Strategic Planning
Requirements
  • University degree in accounting, finance or related field.
  • Professional designation such as CPA or CFA or in progress.
  • 2+ years financial planning and analysis experience in a financial institution
  • Strong understanding of data-based structures with some experience building database applications and reporting.
  • Experience with accounting systems; ability to access systems to pull financial data for analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills, experience in meeting deadlines with multiple projects.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint along with advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to evaluate alternatives and provide recommendations on business issues and KPI's.
  • Ability to multi-task and execute with precision; strong attention to detail and follow-through; ability to manage and direct multiple projects and priorities to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent judgment, high discretion, and confidentiality.
