Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists for a Senior Financial Analyst in our Financial Reporting department to lead a high performing team responsible for the accounting and financial reporting related to Stantec\'s global corporate real estate portfolio and equipment leasing activities. This is a permanent position in the Edmonton office.

Your Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Supervising and mentoring Accounting Technicians and Analysts

Reviewing lease contracts and checklists to ensure compliance with IFRS

Reviewing sublease contracts and related cease use or sublease calculations

Chairing quarterly conference calls with Corporate Real Estate

Verifying the accuracy of updates in CoStar, our lease management database

Reviewing and approving complex journal entries.

Reviewing numerous related balance sheet reconciliations and continuities

Preparing and reviewing related financial statement note disclosures

Contributing to the 5-day period end close process, identifying and correcting issues timely

Reviewing all recurring lease payments for North America

Performing key controls over financial reporting and certifying they are operating effectively

Coordinating lease accounting support for global finance services teams and the acquisition and annual budget processes

Responding to Internal and External audit requests and remediating deficiencies

Identifying and implementing process improvements and maintain related documentation

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

The ideal candidate has attained or is close to attaining a professional accounting designation and has progressively responsible work experience in accounting and financial reporting.

Other required qualifications include:

Effective communication skills, including written and oral English language competency

A very high degree of accuracy in analyzing contracts and financial information

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple competing priorities and firm deadlines

Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Teams and Oracle

Well-developed leadership skills, demonstrating initiative and assertiveness

Ability to work independently and foster collaboration both in person and while remote

Proven commitment to the ongoing development of themselves and others

An understanding of real estate or other leases agreements and experience with lease accounting in accordance with IFRS 16, CoStar Real Estate Manager, and BlackLine would be considered assets.

Education and Experience

  • An accounting degree or diploma and a minimum of three years\' experience working in Accounting and Financial Reporting
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.

Salary Range(s):
  • $76,100 - $110,300 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
