In this role you will report to the Syndicate Accounting director within the accounting team of the Finance Controllership group. You will embody the CIBCs One Finance Vision and Guiding Principles.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Youll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where youll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.How youll succeedAccounting and Controls - You drive accurate, complete, and timely inputs to the various reporting groups. Provide accounts attestation and ensure all balance sheet accounts are substantiated. Inspire adherence to guidelines set by industry practices and regulators with regards to Underwriting deals and transactions related to Mergers & Acquisitions.Relationship management - You have good teamwork, partnership and relationship building skills sufficient to act in a collaborative manner with team members and stakeholders from different backgrounds and experiences. You will liaise with Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions, other Regional offices, Regulatory Reporting, CFO team, other stakeholder groups and external Brokerage firms to ensure efficient issue solutions.Agility - You support agile accounting processes and controls to ensure timeliness and accuracy. Ensure changes in accounting policies/requirements are implemented in a controlled manner. Maintain adequate end to end process maps and detailed task manuals in accordance with best practices, regulatory requirements, SOX, and Internal Controls.Who you areYou understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don\'t. Your critical, analytical thinking skills, and sound judgement help to inform your decision making.Youre a certified professional. You have current accreditation and good standing in CPA, or working towards your CPA designation, with 3+ years of relevant work experience. The CFA designation is an asset.You can demonstrate experience in Capital Markets accounting, or Investment Banking accounting background with regards to the Underwriting and Mergers & Acquisition businesses in order to support the oversight and governance functions. This includes enhancement of financial controls across multiple groups. You have strong knowledge of IFRS and Financial Reporting requirements for Financial Instruments.You embrace and champion change.
