We are currently seeking to fill a Senior Financial Analyst role on a term basis to cover a maternity leave. This role is based in Regina and is mostly remote, but does require some in office hours on a weekly basis. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Financial Analyst\xe2\x80\x99s responsibilities include assisting with period end closing process, conducting financial planning and budgeting, developing financial models, preparing projections and performing research and analysis to provide useful insights to management. Key Responsibilities
Supervises and trains day-to-day general accounting functions and accounting operations which include coding invoices and compilation of data for various accounting reports
Oversees preparation of accounts and reports for management, including balance sheets and income statements
Responsible for coding and processing employee expenses reports in Concur.
Reviews journal entries and records submitted by staff
Responsible for various monthly close processes such as complete journal entries, calculate depreciation & prepaid expenses; run reports and prepare reconciliations
Manages month-end reporting, including preparation of the balance sheet, income statement and cashflow
Confirms accuracy of operating and financial reports
Interprets accounts and records to upper
Advises upper management regarding matters, such as effective use of resources
Suggests improvements in accounting processes
Bank reconciliations, account reconciliations
Oversees inventory management
Ad hoc analysis
Specific tasks include:
Run financial statements
Review calculations, accounts payable batches, inventory entries and reconciliations
Train new Finance staff members and mentor current staff in their roles
Conduct economic analysis and monthly variance analysis
Monitor tax law changes, interest payment schedules, and complex inventory adjustments
Scope out finance requirements for new IT projects and applications
Create procedures and streamline processes to create efficiencies throughout Finance roles
Coordinate the year-end audit
Qualifications
Degree in Administration/Commerce or a Diploma/Certificate in Accounting
CPA designation or CPA student
5 years accounting experience, including 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in financial planning and analysis
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Detail oriented and able to perform well under pressure
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
Proficient in MS Office, and Accpac/Sage 300
