We currently have a Regular Full-time opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst in the Finance, Capital and Treasury at our Bayview Campus.

Hours of Work:

Weekdays: Days, 8 hrs; As per schedule

Summary of Duties

The General Accounting department of Sunnybrook Health Science Centre has an opening for Senior Financial Analyst (Capital Expenditure). Working with the Financial Analyst, the Senior Financial Analyst will play a lead role in all aspects of the Hospital's capital processes, including but not limited to the Hospital's fixed asset ledger, project system, special projects, and special audits. The successful candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment along with excellent interpersonal skills and a client-focused attitude and maintain positive working relationships with numerous stakeholders. Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with the Senior Financial Analyst (Capital Funding) and Financial Analyst to ensure proper maintenance and management of capital budgets and
  • associated spend
  • Finance department point of contact for all Capital-related budgeting and expenditure
  • Leading capital special audits, including but not limited to capital projects from the Ministry capital branch, HIRF, etc.
  • Working with stakeholders to bring forward new capital requests and to identify associated risks to the organization
  • Working with the Capital Planning team to ensure proper tracking and maintenance of the full capital plan cycle
  • Developing strong working relationships with other departments, including but not limited to Corporate Planning, Clinical teams, Foundation, IT
  • Works closely with stakeholders to ensure accurate and up-to-date records, and to facilitate timely closure of projects
  • Prepares internal reports to stakeholders for all projects
  • Ensures completeness and accuracy of data in compliance with Hospital policies & accounting standards
  • Performs month-end settlement entries and internal charges in SAP
  • Prepares other ad hoc reports as required
  • Providing suggestions for improvement of current processes and schedules for efficiency purposes
  • Maintain and manage all aspects of the Project System within SAP
  • Maintaining and managing capital budgets and associated spend within SAP
  • Assisting Manager in creation of annual capital and depreciation budgets
  • Lead role in SAP projects implementation
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Skills
  • CPA Designation (or in progress) strongly preferred
  • At least 3-5 years of experience relating to construction and ministry capital settlement processes within the healthcare sector
  • Experience with capital budgeting and forecasting preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong customer-centric approach
  • Display initiative and sound professional judgment and integrity
  • A self-starter with the ability to handle multiple job responsibilities, set priorities, problem solve and work with all levels of staff while appreciating the responsibility of meeting tight
  • and conflicting deadlines
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts and generally accepted accounting principles
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
