THE POSITION: Reporting to VP Treasury, this position provides direct support to the investment and balance sheet management, payment and settlement, profitability, liquidity risk, interest rate risk, regulatory reporting, and data management demands of the credit union.

The Senior Financial Analyst will build on their work experience and educational background to support Innovation\'s Finance department in a federally regulated environment. This person\'s primary responsibilities will be IFCU\'s regulatory reporting requirements, liquidity reporting and forecast and as a key resource for IFCU\'s asset liability software including analyzing and preparing output for IFCU stakeholders. The Senior Financial Analyst will be looked to for leadership in automating or improving key processes in the department through Power Query, Power BI or other methods.

What will you do?
  • Take leadership in the management of IFCU\xe2\x80\x99s regulatory reporting, liquidity and payments and settlements monitoring and experience in a federally regulated environment will be seen as an asset.
  • Play an integral role in the annual budgeting and quarterly projection processes including managing and updating the forecasting tools and reporting systems. Make presentations as required.
  • Perform daily investment analysis and decisions
  • Undertake complex statistical, mathematical, investment, trend and/or financial analysis; maintain databases; provide recommendations on data/information requirements, analytical methods, and study objectives
  • Undertake data gathering, processing and analysis, prepare summaries of findings; review economic studies and the data and methodologies supporting the studies to determine their accuracy and validity
  • Assist with the development of all data processing and business intelligence needs of the department
  • Support the expansion of alternate funding and lending channels, loan sales, securitization, and other finance-related channels
  • Assist in identifying and monitoring loan and deposit growth patterns
  • Identify areas of financial concern for the credit union. Provide recommendations.
  • Manage the development and implementation of analytical statistical, cost benefit, financial and investment strategies, methods, and techniques; provide statistical analyses in response to emerging policy issues; prepare or direct the preparation of analytical and research papers and forecasting and simulation strategies, methods and techniques
  • Assist in Finance\xe2\x80\x99s contribution to IFCU\xe2\x80\x99s annual ICAAP
  • Comply with federal, provincial, and local legislation, regulations, by-laws, policies and procedures by adhering to requirements, recommending needed actions or changes to procedures
  • Provide support to the accounting, financial reporting, and operating risk functions of Innovation Federal Credit Union
  • Assess risk when making decisions, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
Some things that would impress us:
  • University degree (Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent) and/or professional accounting/finance designation with a strong knowledge in data management and MS Excel software
  • 4-6 years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ALM Software, MS Power BI and some programming experience an asset.
