Further information is available atSUMMARYThe Senior Specialist Environment, Energy, Health and Safety will support Bell Media meet its ambitious environment, social and governance (ESG) goals. This a dynamic role supporting a national team to run their operations sustainably and safely while meeting the requirements of ISO 14001, 50001 and 45001 management systems.KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESEnvironment

  • Plan, develop, and implement environmental strategies and policies throughout the organization.
  • Oversee activities of team members to maintain an ISO 14001 environmental management system (EMS).
  • Implement an annual corporate environmental action plan across the organization including the negotiation of task deliverables and timelines.
  • Ensure that operations comply with local, provincial, federal regulations and Bell specific environmental regulations.
  • Provide training to facility managers to ensure their understanding of environmental policies.
  • Support team members to participate in environmental audits to ensure conformance to the ISO 14001 standard and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop corrective action plans to address non-conformances resulting from EMS and regulatory audits.
  • Oversee fuel system upgrade and R-22 phase-out projects including scope development, budget management, contractor selection and contract negotiations.
  • Oversee and lead incident investigations and verifies implementation of corrective action.
  • Oversee contaminated site remediation projects including scope verification, budget management, consultant selection and contract negotiations.
  • Oversee environmental due diligence requirements such as the completion of environmental site assessments and developing baselines during property transactions.
  • Provides leadership, guidance and technical support from an environmental perspective to senior leaders and operational team members.
  • Build a competent team through recruitment and development efforts.
Energy
  • Collect energy consumption data from utilities and benchmarks energy performance of buildings.
  • Prepares quarterly update reports including energy consumption and costs, energy breakdown, baseline energy use, reporting of annual goals and objectives, and future energy reduction impact of applicable projects.
  • Collaborate with facility manager to implement measures to reduce utility usage and improve efficiency. Provides staff training and makes regular inspection of facilities for implementation of utility management measures.
  • Promote renewable energy and water resources whenever appropriate. Identify opportunities for collaboration with other business units within Bell.
Health and Safety
  • Implement an annual corporate safety action plan across the organization including the negotiation of task deliverables and timelines.
  • Investigate accidents to identify root problems, eliminate existing dangers and develop solutions that will reduce the risk of other accidents from occurring.
  • Implement, manage and monitor safety programs, policies and procedures that meet Canada Labour Code Part 2 and OHS regulations.
  • Conduct safety training or education programs and demonstrating the use of safety equipment.
  • Develop safety training or education programs specific to the hazards found in a media environment.
  • Participate in government inspections of the workplace and address resulting non-compliances.
  • Create opportunities to engage employees and management to embrace safety and embed it within day-to-day activities.
  • Respond to health and safety questions and concerns from employees, managers and external stakeholders.
  • Provides expertise and written guidance in resolution to health and safety concerns and supports the implementation of solutions.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in a relevant field of study such as Environmental Science, Sustainability or Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Minimum five years of working experience in the environment, sustainability or health and safety field.
  • Experience in the interpretation and application of relevant health and safety and environmental legislation, standards, statistical information and guidelines.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in project management, contract management, budget development, business case development, financial controls and analysis.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to ensure information is.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, facilitate and gain consensus with various stakeholders and teams.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001, 50001 and 45001 management systems.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is highly desirable.
