ATCO is accepting applications for a new and exciting opportunity in the renewables field supporting the transition to clean energy in remote communities. The successful candidate will fulfill the role of Senior Engineer where responsibilities will include strategy development and leading engineering related deliverables associated with the development of renewable projects in remote communities.

What You Get to Do:
  • You will be accountable for the delivery of the research and technology program stream within ATCO\'s Off-Diesel Initiative. This will require you to provide strategic insight into renewable technology deployment risks and mitigations, while keeping up to date on technology advancements.
  • You will be responsible for managing project technical deliverables achieving a successful outcome, meeting project timelines, negotiating scope changes, coordinating reviews to ensure zero technical errors while maintaining positive client and vendor relationships.
  • You will lead your work through technically and geographically diverse engineering teams, and be accountable and have expertise to support the following:
  • Strategy and Business Development
  • Renewables Engineering
  • Complex System Simulation and Data Analysis
  • System interconnection studies
  • Construction and Commissioning
  • Technical Guidance and Training
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
  • 7-10 years of experience in an Engineering related field.
  • Expert knowledge of renewable generation, microgrids, and battery energy storage systems.
  • Experience in the delivery of renewable feasibility studies, design, and development of renewable generation projects is required.
  • Proficient in the use of solar, wind & microgrid modeling software and publicly available data (Helioscope, Homer Pro, CYME, Matlab, PVSyst, WindAtlas, Vortex, NASA Earth Data, etc.)
  • Self-starter and ability to make decisions independently with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ambitious entrepreneurial skillset.
  • Critical thinking ability.
  • Exceptional team player.
  • Ability to influence and lead others within a matrix organizational structure.
  • Ability to prioritize completion of deliverables and meet commitments.
  • Proficient in the use of design software (AutoCAD, ProjectWise, etc.)
  • Valid driver\'s license.
  • Experience in all forms of renewable electricity generation like solar, wind, hydro, biomass, and geothermal is considered an asset.
  • Project management experience and experience with project management software is considered an asset.
  • Experience with business start-ups and/or deployment of new business lines or services is considered an asset.
  • Candidates must be willing to travel as required into remote communities, work flexible hours, and stay out of town for periods of time.
