This professional engineering position is responsible for managing substation projects through design, procurement, construction, and commissioning using external consultants and internal staff. These projects will predominately be maintenance or capacity upgrade projects in our existing substations.

Our ideal candidate

• Able establish and maintain effective working relationships with regulatory agencies, outside consultants and internal staff.
• Thorough knowledge of the applicable government acts, regulations, codes, directives, and guidelines.
• Experience in substation design.
• Experience in project engineering or project management.
• Demonstrated experience in preparing technical analysis to support strategic planning, evaluation and the development of business cases to optimize systems.
• Knowledge of construction and project management principles and procedures.
• Knowledge in CAD operations, GIS technology and modeling applications.
• Knowledge, understanding and commitment to City\'s Corporate Safety standards

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a bachelor\'s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical or Petroleum) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Seven (7) years engineering work experience in the energy utility industry, three (3) years of experience as a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
• Experience managing all aspects of the substation project from initial conception to close-out.
• Registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in good standing with APEGA.
• Possess and maintain a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle driver\'s license with an acceptable driving record. An equivalent combination of management approved training and education may be considered
• This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.
