Our Team:

The Mine Technical Services team is integral to employee safety and the creation and execution of sound mining plans. Members of this teamwork across a variety of engineering functions including planning, ground control, surveying, ventilation, scheduling, infrastructure, and capital coordination.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to join our Mines Technical Services team at our Copper Cliff Mine Complex in Sudbury. This is a permanent position.

This role will work with mine operations and technical discipline to develop & implement a rock management strategy taking all stages of mine development, production, and concurrent mine expansion projects into account - maximize internal recycle of excavated material (not only use past practices but explore new ways of doing things to maximize the value of our mineral resources).

In addition, this position will be:

  • Responsible to compile information and plan capital and operating requirements, scheduling and forecasting in a rolling 24-month period, integrating guidance from Integrated Business Planning, Operations, Reliability, Geology including diamond drilling, Ground Control, Seismic Risk Management and Ventilation.
  • Accountable to ensure required changes to stoping and development plans, due to execution variances or other unforeseen changes, are immediately assessed and put into the plan.
  • Providing mining engineering design support to an existing team of geologists, mining engineers, and geotechnical engineers.
  • Participating in the design, evaluation, and support of underground mining operations.
  • Responsible to generate the key drivers for the creation of the operating budget, based on company strategic guidance.
  • Influencing project team members both internal and external performance and influences their activities as necessary to ensure project requirements are achieved.
  • Ensuring that the activities of the project team members both internal and their activities are on target to have project requirements achieved.
  • Confirming scope forecast of cost and schedule is updated as prescribed by the project requirements.
About You

Education:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or equivalent in Mining Engineering.
  • P. Eng. is preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position is required.
Skills:
  • Underground mine design, mining engineering, scheduling, and high level of understanding of underground mining activities.
  • Knowledge of engineering planning software (Deswik) is an asset.
  • Experience in preparing and managing FEL 1/2/3 level studies and execution projects.
  • Communication skills and development of concise documents and presentation materials.
  • Preparation of annual budgets, 5-year plans, capital planning and allocation of resources.
  • Knowledge of cash flow modeling techniques and mineral economics is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with spreadsheet manipulation in Excel.
  • Be creative, not only use past practices but promote new ways of doing things to maximize the value of our mineral resources.
