Senior Engineer, Integrated Mine Planning

Reporting to the Superintendent, Integrated Mine Planning, you will be part of the Technical Team located at Lac de Gras Mine Site, you will work 12 hours per day on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotational schedule. You will be responsible for:

• Supervising short-range planners and other engineers in the integrated mine planning team

• Support professional development and mentoring of planning engineers
• Support and manage safety programs within the mine planning function
• Creating underground medium range (rolling 3-month) mine plans

• Liaise with other support services groups and operations departments to develop and recommend input parameters for medium range plans
• Align medium range plans with approved quarterly/ LOM plans
• Compiling and publishing of the integrated medium range plan

• Maintenance and updating of monthly production forecasts
• Oversee creation of the rolling two-week plan

• Direction to short range planner
• Ensure quality of plan
• Ensure all appropriate constraints are covered to achieve weekly targets
• Complete month end reporting
• Mentoring and developing the mine planning team
• Ability to cover short range functions

• Weekly plan
• Development layouts
• Assist with long-range & quarterly forecasts by reviewing plans and providing feedback
• Leadership within the Integrated Mine Planning team

• Act as fill-in for Superintendent when not available
• Assist in direction at Lean and Safety meetings
• Coaching team in technical and operational aspects
• Ensuring Diavik is compliant with all relevant legislation and the Rio Tinto Safety Standards
• Support the Rio Tinto Critical Risk Management system

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll bring

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
• Mining Engineering degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
• Registered or ability to be registered with NAPEG
• 7+ years in underground mine engineering
• Open pit mine engineering experience preferred
• Experience using Vulcan and Deswik software preferred
• Experience supervising technical staff advantageous
• Experience in operational roles advantageous
• Experience with Open Pit mining, Sub-Level Retreat and Open Stoping with Cemented Rockfill is preferred

The Diavik Diamond Mine, in Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Northwest Territories, is located on a 20 square kilometer island, called East Island, in Lac de Gras, a lake located 300 kilometers northeast of Yellowknife. It is 100 kilometers north of the tree line and 210 km south of the Arctic Circle. Workers at the mine site commute to the island by plane.
