About the role

We are looking for a Technician, Laboratory responsible for quality control of the backfill and batch plant products located at the Lac de Gras Mine site, you will be working a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation. Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, Integrated Mine Planning, you will be responsible to:
Identify, assess, and control hazards to safely perform work.
Identify safety concerns and work to brainstorm mitigations or elimination strategies.
Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety standards and policies.
Perform quality control testing on cemented rock fill, concrete, and shotcrete products, including casting and coring of test cylinders, UCS testing, aggregate size distribution, slump testing, etc.
Prepare and issue daily and weekly reports on backfill and shotcrete quality.
Attend and participate in Daily Toolbox Meetings with Plant Operations.
Foster and develop a good safety culture with Plant Operations.
Immediately report all incidents and accidents to your supervisor.
Complete operational checks in the backfill plant lab and report deviations.
Troubleshoot quality control problems to maintain a steady state of operation.
Communicate all production and safety-related issues to team members and cross-shift.
Perform good housekeeping in the backfill plant lab to maintain the cleanliness of the lab and equipment to a high standard.
Recognize and correct undesirable trends in production.
Report maintenance issues to your supervisor.
Work closely with the operations and maintenance department to assist in work strategies related to operational requirements and needs.
What you will bring

Previous experience in a backfill plant with knowledge of the operational standards, policies, procedures, processes, and backfill testing.
Ability to learn and understand technical procedures and information quickly.
Good organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing conditions as required.
Ability to take initiative and work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to maintain standards of conduct and demonstrate sound work ethics.
A valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and ability to drive safely, respecting Diavik road rules and procedures.
Strong interpersonal and excellent oral, written, and active listening skills.
Experience working with people from different cultures and areas of expertise.
Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Access
