Headquartered in Niagara Falls, Ontario, we take pride in transforming complex environmental challenges into custom-engineered solutions that meet stringent regulatory requirements and enhance productivity across aerospace, defense, automotive, and other heavy industries.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Draftsman and Technical Support Specialist to lead critical initiatives within our Engineering & Manufacturing team. This senior role combines advanced technical drafting with high-level technical support, overseeing the creation of precise 2D and 3D fabrication drawings using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Vault, while providing expert guidance to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders during design, manufacturing, installation, and post-delivery phases. The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on fabrication experience, deep expertise in drafting tools, and exceptional leadership and communication skills to drive compliance, innovation, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Drafting & Modeling Leadership

Oversee the development of complex 2D and 3D fabrication drawings for modular enclosures, ventilation systems, and supporting infrastructure using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. Create and review bills of materials (BOMs), packing lists, and detailed production documentation to ensure seamless manufacturing and assembly processes.

Document Control & Process Optimization

Manage and optimize design file workflows and version control using Autodesk Vault, ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and scalability across teams. Implement robust revision tracking systems to maintain traceable documentation throughout project lifecycles. Mentor junior team members on best practices for document control and drafting accuracy. Continue to improve design optimization by leveraging existing iLogic scripts and creating new automations & templates, and methods to speed design time and decrease manufacturing lead times.

Advanced Technical Support

Provide high-level technical support to production teams, installation crews, and clients, resolving complex issues related to design implementation, system performance, and field adaptations. Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including advanced user guides, installation manuals, and troubleshooting resources, to support internal teams and end-users.

Strategic Project Collaboration

Collaborate with engineers, project managers, fabricators, purchasing teams, and clients to translate high-level conceptual designs into fabrication-ready solutions. Lead design reviews, integrating stakeholder feedback to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and compliant solutions. Provide strategic technical input during manufacturing and installation phases, driving process improvements and resolving critical challenges.

Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance

Ensure all designs and documentation comply with safety, environmental, and industry standards (CSA, ASME, local building codes). Conduct rigorous quality assurance reviews to uphold Duroair's internal standards and exceed client expectations. Champion the development of clean air solutions that align with occupational health and safety regulations, contributing to industry-leading environmental performance.

Extensive hands-on experience with fabrication techniques, including welding, sheet metal work, or modular assembly.

Technical Proficiency

Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Vault, with a track record of optimizing drafting workflows. Advanced knowledge of fabrication drawings, GD&T, and Canadian industrial regulatory standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for creating high-quality technical documentation and reports.
