Intermediate/Senior Civil Design Drafter

Location: Saskatoon, SK Our ClientThis well-established, locally owned consulting firm provides civil, environmental, geotechnical and waste management engineering services across Saskatchewan and Western Canada. Supported by a multidisciplinary team, our client has built strong partnerships with private industry, public agencies, and Indigenous communities. With a portfolio of projects ranging from rural road systems and drainage infrastructure to environmental remediation and landfill design, they deliver practical and sustainable solutions to their clients.

With significant municipal and infrastructure work underway, they're looking for an Intermediate to Senior-level Design Drafter to support a high-performing team of engineers and project managers. You'll be part of a supportive work environment with access to senior professionals and a leadership team that believes in lifting others up. The OpportunityAs the Intermediate/Senior Civil Design Drafter you'll take ownership of multiple projects at once, working closely with Engineers and Project Managers. You are someone who enjoys structure and autonomy, confidently juggling competing deadlines while collaborating with multiple technical leads. Your days will be spent transforming sketches, survey data, and technical input into accurate, well-organized design packages, primarily using AutoCAD and Civil 3D. You'll support municipal infrastructure projects from concept through construction, mentor junior drafters as they develop their skills, and contribute to a culture of quality and collaboration.



Key ResponsibilitiesAs the Intermediate/Senior Civil Design Drafter, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:

1. Design & Drafting Execution

Produce high-quality technical drawings and civil design plans using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, with a focus on municipal infrastructure. Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and survey data to develop detailed and accurate 2D/3D design deliverables. Contribute to the preparation of drawing packages, site layouts, grading plans, and utility coordination for construction projects Ensure drafting outputs meet internal standards and client requirements, incorporating revisions efficiently. Assist in preparing models and drawings for GPS and machine control, supporting precision in construction execution.

2. Project Support & Communication

Work closely with project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to translate project needs into effective design solutions. Collaborate and assist internal teams on projects from concept through to construction to define project requirements and deliverables. Coordinate with internal staff to ensure deadlines and quality expectations are met.

3. Mentorship & Quality Improvement

Provide mentorship and support to junior drafters, helping to develop their drafting skills, project awareness, and workflow management. Support continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and contributing to drafting standards and tools development.


QualificationsAs the Intermediate/Senior Civil Design Drafter, you will bring:Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in civil design and drafting, ideally with exposure to municipal infrastructure. Proficiency with engineering software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar tools. Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to clients, contractors, and internal teams. A collaborative, team-oriented approach with the ability to manage tasks independently and contribute to shared goals. Confidence to mentor or guide junior drafting staff, offering support in both technical development and time management. Ability to quickly transition to new projects, tasks and initiatives while maintaining accuracy, productivity and attention to requirements.
