The Senior Dispatcher is responsible for covering various aspects of line haul and city dispatching including communicating with drivers, customers and customs officials. This position requires a unique personality and skill set. The possibilities for growth are endless and completely determined by your own efforts and work ethic.

Duties

  • Coordinate and plan with department peers to effectively and efficiently dispatch the company\xe2\x80\x99s resources.
  • Should have worked on Fleet Manager, DAT, Load Link, Open Load Boards.
  • Communicate specific freight requirements and procedures to drivers.
  • Develop relationships with carriers, identify opportunities, generate leads, and win freight.
  • Handle customer inquiries in a timely, professional manner.
  • Update customer web portals with up-to-date load information.
  • Defining all details relating to loads and ensuring that the chosen carrier understands and is able to meet all expectations.
  • Evaluate changes in market conditions and negotiate best purchase price while assessing all angles of the situation.
  • Coordinate the resolution of assessorial charges, disputes, and general carrier issue.
  • Provide one-off and network solutions for freight opportunities tabled by customer service, operations, and sales through rate requests and network designs and modifications.
  • Locate, validate and onboard new sources of carrier capacity to meet the needs of the network.
  • Build and manage carrier relationships involving capacity, rates and compliance.
  • Monitor and update shipment statuses on the company\xe2\x80\x99s internal applications.
  • Analyze resource utilization and generate reports as needed.
Requirements

Skills and Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in trucking industry and/or dispatch experience.
  • Educational background in Supply Chain Management (or other relevant area such as Business)
  • Dedicated experience providing customer service in a similar work environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively manage multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry and North American geography are considered assets.
  • Positive attitude with good people skills.
  • Exceptional negotiation, decision making and organizational skills.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-pace, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Good command of MS Office (Excel and Word) with an ability to quickly learn new software.
