About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Vice President Medicine, the Senior Director is responsible for the province-wide planning of assigned Network activities, within NSH, and supports both the clinical and academic mandates of Nova Scotia Health.

Working with a medical co-lead and closely with NSH\'s Executive Team, the Department of Health and Wellness, Zone Leadership and Research and Innovation, the Senior Director provides strategic leadership and oversight in the design of a provincially integrated care model and in the development of strategic and operational plans that support excellence in care delivery, improvement in health outcomes, and achievement of standards of care established by the Department and NS Health. With a strategic focus on the Action for Health Mandate, the Senior Director will have overarching responsibility and accountability for all mandated provincial initiatives related to their network of responsibility.

The Senior Director provides strategic leadership with a focus on the policy and planning required to support quality care for patients and families. The Senior Director has accountability to champion provincial network initiatives, influence change at a senior level, and will be responsible to ensure zone collaboration in the development and delivery of high-level network mandates. In addition, the Senior Director ensures that network activities are monitored and evaluated, included in the strategic plans of other programs and settings, and supported to achieve efficient and sustainable resource allocation and quality care in accordance with NSH Mission, Vision and Values, and Strategic Directions. The Senior Director works in collaboration with key stakeholders within the organization (ie: zone leadership, other networks, programs of care) and external to the NSH (ie: academic institutions, researchers, and community organizations) to build collaborative relationships, a shared vision and joint accountability for the assigned networks.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Baccalaureate degree from a health discipline/health science field
  • Master\'s Degree from a health discipline or in Business Administration, Health Services Administration, or other Master\'s program considered an asset
  • Certified Health Executive designation is an asset
  • 7-10 years of relevant senior leadership experience with progressive accountabilities for financial, strategic and people management to deliver high quality services within a complex, integrated service model provided throughout several locations with multiple partners and stakeholders
  • Excellent leadership, relationship building, organizational and decision making skills in support of patient, family and client centered services
  • Expert knowledge to critically analyze evidence-based practices to inform strategy development and organizational planning
  • Strategic and systems thinking
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders
  • Evidence-based collaborative problem solving of complex multifaceted issues
  • Critical thinking and analytical problem solving
  • Understanding of the principles of project management and demonstrated ability to create and lead complex work teams
  • Expertise in leading complex change
