The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Analyst Advanced Analytics to join our IT team in Sudbury or Toronto. This is a permanent position.

This is a senior position in the global advanced analytics group. The position is for a senior analyst who will help lead the advanced analytic agenda across the organization. The position requires a solid understanding of BI, machine learning, data management and its application including an understanding of the technical environments in which these will be applied. In addition, this position will require significant general analytic and engagement capabilities with a very strong ability to understand business challenges and offer and manage leading edge solutions associated with those challenges.

Additionally, in this position you will be:

  • Responsible for engaging, identifying, and defining business challenges at the most senior level that have the potential to be solved through the use of advanced analytics
  • Define the and align the business benefit with senior levels within the organization from the operations as well as Technology. Responsible for measuring and achieving the agreed business benefit in conjunction with the business sponsors
  • Responsible for defining and building out the appropriate advanced analytic solutions. This will include the definition of the appropriate algorithms their modification and implementation across the lifecycle as well as the management of third-party vendors in the delivery of the solutions
  • Responsible for bringing groundbreaking ideas and processes to the organization as well as staying current on all associated innovative technologies and processes
  • Leading the initiatives from beginning to end in conjunction with a business sponsor. This will require assigning and holding accountable internal and third-party resources to achieve the required goals
  • Working and collaborating with the rest of the advanced analytics team, the digit transformation team as well as appropriate areas within IT including architecture, services and the business partner group.
  • Insure all parties operate as a single team to achieve results
  • Leading and participating in strategic discussion about the use of advanced analytics globally as well as assisting other areas in sophisticated analytics on developing specific solutions
  • Work and excel in a matrixed responsibility model.
  • Be the inspiring leader for some specific subjects in the advanced analytics team and tactician for others. The position will always have to manage multiple disparate agendas with each initiative and the overall strategy as a whole
  • Responsible for helping define a strategic roadmap for the digital transformation program in base metals with regards to the area of advanced analytics. The roadmap will be encompassing and align from very short 1-3-month deliverables to a 5-10-year vision
  • Working with and co-operating with the Advanced Analytic community including establishing relationships with local universities, think tanks and research areas
  • Being a data advocate across base metals presenting, training and facilitating the use of data across the base metal's organization
About You

Education
  • Undergraduate degree in statistics, analytics, engineering, computer science and/or software engineering is required
  • PMP, Masters in statistics, analytics, computer science and or software engineering education is preferred
Experience
  • 3-4 years of experience in a similar subject area
Skills
  • Strong, outgoing, and confident personality will be required to engage and manage these initiatives with the operations
  • Ability to expertly navigate the business to accomplish the goals in a very efficient manner
