Our Team:

Our corporate office, located in downtown Toronto serves as the headquarters for the global Base Metals business, providing support to all our Base Metals operations. In Mississauga, Vale\xe2\x80\x99s Base Metals Technology Development team work to improve Vale\xe2\x80\x99s competitive edge and support its growth strategies by coming up with safer and more environmentally responsible technology.

The Opportunity

The Senior Project Manager oversees all aspects of large, high-visibility, high-complexity (i.e. multi-sites, multiple applications, multiple vendors) strategic technology projects using planning, monitoring and controlling processes. The role is responsible for completion of all projects on time, on budget and on spec. The role holder performs tasks with little supervision, setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring and summarizing progress of the project. The role participates in the project group management team and contributes to the continuous improvement of the technology department\xe2\x80\x99s project management capabilities. The work location for this role is primarily Remote with eventual access & occasional travel to Sudbury, Toronto and/or Brazil will be required.

The individual will be accountable for projects that involve extensive investments of time, money and effort. In this role, you are;

  • Responsible for management of overall project timelines, resources, and budget.
  • Define scope and content of all project deliverables.
  • Develop project plans and maintain accurate project financial information throughout the project life cycle.
  • Analyze business problems and capture requirements.
  • Direct resources both internal, onshore, and offshore and ensure the implementation and utilization of consistent processes across the SDLC/Agile implementations.
  • Manages updating and reporting, using Vale approved methods and applications, on the project budget, schedule, and status.
  • For agile project delivery, guide the fundamentals of Agile development and facilitate sprint cycles.
  • Management of Vale and various Vale partner\xe2\x80\x99s project resources to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Leading vendor and software solution evaluations.
  • Primary point of contact internally for project communication including business client.
  • Manage IT change process for projects, help Business identify and implement change management process for project.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project, including the management of risks, issues and project scope.
  • Responsible for the completion of other related tasks and deliverables, as assigned and required by Vale from time to time.
  • Participating in major vendor evaluations and selection process by providing recommendations based on subject matter expertise.
About You

Education:
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering /related discipline.
  • PMP & Certified Agile Scrum Master is an asset.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience in similar subject area.
Skills:
  • Proficiency in Brazilian Portuguese language is a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of DevOps methodology is an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding and use of standard software development methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile and Rational Unified Process is required.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Advanced experience in MS Project and MS Excel
  • Technical knowledge of hosting environments and application architecture.
  • Vendor & Contract management knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and connect similar problems in the E2E value chain process and propose solutions (integrated approach instead of a silo approach).
