About Us

At Education & Early Childhood Development (EECD) we ensure children in their early years have the support they need for a positive start to school; students in pre-primary to grade 12 receive a quality education, preparing them for what lies ahead; and we work with schools, teachers and others to increase overall student achievement and success.

EECD is working to build an integrated early years system throughout the province that will provide more accessible and comprehensive support for young children and their families.

About Our Opportunity

As a senior member in the Analytics team, you will have the unique opportunity to help shape, guide and support the future direction of the education system in the province. You will play a key role in the organization of, and access to, strategic education information assets, required to provide accurate and timely information for the Department. This position reports to the Manager of Analytics.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Will help develop strategies and guidelines that support a strong data management framework that aligns with privacy and security best practices.
  • Create a variety of reports, charts and dashboards within various program areas to support system decision making.
  • Assist in developing and promoting a self-serve analytics program for the Department.
  • Work with business and technical audiences across organizational units, departments and external entities.
Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role you have a Bachelors\xe2\x80\x99 degree with 6 years of analytics related experience; an acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Experience leading complex analytics projects and gathering information requirements in collaboration with wide range of stakeholders with a strategic alignment to department and government priorities should be clearly outlined in your cover letter and resume.

You are self-directed, works well independently and as a member of a team, who values a diverse and inclusive workplace. You can exercise professional discretion, manage competing interests, and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships, key in this role. You are a critical thinker with the ability to prioritize and action work under tight timelines and exercising sound judgement under pressure, and a problem solver. You have the business acumen and passion to question and understand the data to create valuable insights.

You have strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy while balancing priorities.

In addition, you also posses the following:
  • Significant experience in report & dashboard development (software e.g., IBM Cognos, Power BI, SAP, Tableau) and data visualization best practises.
  • Advanced Excel skills to compile, manipulate and organize large datasets to produce insights.
  • Experience building and optimizing data analytics life cycle processes; and
  • Demonstrated proficiency using SQL and experience working in data warehouse environments.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade: PR 17

Salary Range: $3,001.65 - $3,525.41 Bi-Weekly
