As a Senior Consultant, Total Rewards in the People Experience Section, you will be joining a team committed to the principles of fairness and equity, who deliver Total Rewards and Organization Design services for a diverse workforce.
Reporting to the Manager Total Rewards, you will work collaboratively with multiple to shape and define the Total Reward strategy from identifying focus, scope and objectives, to setting methodology, activities and timing.
By joining our team, you will lead the development, research, analysis, costing and implementation of compensation programs, job design and wage/salary administration and policies. Stakeholders will rely on your expertise and consultation to help them achieve their goals. As the Senior Consultant, Total Rewards you will have considerable experience in compensation management, restructuring, change management, and the use of organizational excellence techniques. You will provide value-added Total Rewards and consulting services and strategic advice and support to the City Manager and Divisions. Working directly with senior leaders at the City, you will provide sound advice that is supported by confidential reports, to ensure that new programs and deliver on business goals. Using your planning and organization skills, you will provide leadership to complex projects and coordinate the work required to develop, implement and transition new effective organization structures.
We will rely on your expertise to review and recommend changes where necessary, participate in compensation surveys and analyze compensation data, as required to maintain targeted market competitiveness. You will need to keep abreast of the market changes and competitive market practices in the area of Total Rewards and monitor leading practices of other organizations in the Public & Private sectors. As a forward-looking organization, we will rely on your compensation expertise, consultation and interpretation to stakeholders across the Corporation at large. You will also work closely with Division Heads, Deputy City Manager and City Manager to understand the business objectives, strategy, processes and objectives, Council direction, legislative changes and drivers for change. Innovative and focused on improvement, you will assesses current business processes to identify options, best practices, and opportunities to enhance service delivery.
Underpinning these qualifications, is a post-secondary education in a relevant professional discipline, such as Human Resources and extensive relevant experience in Total Rewards, and/or Compensation, or an equivalent educational and work history. This substantial mandate will benefit from your considerable facilitation experience at a senior level, and your extensive experience conducting research and developing options, working with multi-disciplinary human resource teams, making recommendations and reports, that support decision-making processes. You will also have experience managing complex projects and/or strategic and operational reviews within a major public sector organization.
Above all, you are an excellent communicator, with a proven track record of building positive, productive working relationships - internally and externally. Highly organized and skilled in written and verbal communications, you enjoy handling multiple tasks and meeting competing priorities, and are adept at drafting reports, delivering effective presentations and using the web to communicate complex information in an easy-to-understand manner. Also, you are an experienced user of Microsoft Office (MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio & Word).
