Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto\'s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Reporting to the Director HR Operations & Total Rewards, we are looking for a Senior Manager, Total Rewards to provide strategic leadership in the build, drive, management, and operational delivery of Total Rewards programs such as compensation, job architecture, organizational design, pension, and group benefits, to foster employee attraction, retention, and engagement as well as to ensure Metrolinx Total Rewards programs are market competitive.

What will I be doing?
  • Motivate, guide, mentor, and cultivate a team of exceptional individuals, nurturing a culture that promotes dedication, zeal, and excitement towards the organization\'s vision, mission, and principles.
  • Be a brand advocate, boosting awareness and advocacy of Metrolinx\'s employee value proposition among staff and candidates.
  • Provide senior expert technical leadership to develop compensation philosophy, strategy, design and oversees the implementation of broad-based compensation goals and objectives.
  • Develop innovative approaches to executive and non-executive compensation and job evaluation, while still adhering to legislation.
  • Determine the long-term strategy for benefits (group insurance renewal, health & wellness, and disability management) and continuously evaluate all benefits plans to ensure they are cost effective, competitive, and meet the needs of both the company and employees.
  • Oversee the research for best and competitive market practices in compensation (executive & broad-based), pension, group benefits, offered by other employers in Public & Private sectors.
  • Help build analytical capabilities and data-driven insights to inform recommendations.
  • Provide support to Collective Bargaining team during union negotiations and recommends compensation and benefit provisions based on research and cost analysis.
  • Benchmark Metrolinx\'s Total Rewards programs to market best practices, market trends and legislative directives and recommend new initiatives to update the current programs.
  • Oversee the appropriate governance of compensation and benefit programs.
  • Collaborate with other sections in HR to define and develop project teams for the successful delivery of short- and long-term objectives.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Completion of a bachelor\'s degree in human resources, Industrial Relations or related field with specific knowledge and/or expertise in Total Rewards - or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in key areas of Total Rewards (compensation, group insurance, pension, policy) with demonstrated experience in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to build and manage compensation (broad-based & executive) programs that align goals, individual and company performance.
  • Works closely with Employee relations to develop compensation strategies aligned to and supportive of the company\'s negotiation strategies.
  • Detailed knowledge of pension administration, WSIB, Ontario Human Rights and Pay Equity Act. Knowledge of Oracle HRIS applications including query and reporting an asset.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional - (CHRP), Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) designation(s) would be asset(s).
