The Opportunity
McElhaney has an opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineering Technologist to join our team in Victoria, BC. Your primary responsibilities are to assist with diverse civil projects, provide detailed design support in production of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications, and assist in pursuit, project management, proposal and delivery of local and regional projects. Working closely with the Victoria office engineers, and related operational teams, the successful candidate can rely on a very capable and established engineering team of multidisciplinary projects.

What You'll Be Doing:
The successful candidate will lead components of, or entire projects from start to finish, meeting relevant standards, and client expectations
Assist regional team in growing the business by seeking out new clients and assisting in proposal preparation
Able to manage multiple tasks and jobs in a busy dynamic environment.
Contribute to and reviews detailed municipal and/or land development project designs.
Assist in the production of engineering designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and tender documents for projects such as potable water, sanitation, stormwater management plans, roadway design, site grading and drainage systems.
Take projects from preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs and plans.
Coordinate the preparation of documents required for regulatory approvals, prepare construction cost estimates and tender documents/contracts.
Coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved.
Identify issues and facilitate corrective measures, think independently.
Liaise with contractor, clients/owners and affected stakeholders.
Conduct Construction Field Reviews and Inspections, chair contractor/client meetings, complete Field Review Reports and Construction Progress reports as needed.

What You'll Bring:
Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (or similar) from an accredited technical college program, plus 10+ years' experience in a similar role
Registration, or ability to register as an A.Sc.T. or other technical accreditation is an asset
An individual that is a successful client liaison.
Experience in writing reports, technical memos, and client communications;
Experience administering MMCD contracts would be an asset;
Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D;
Field and Construction Inspection experience is an asset;
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills;
High productivity, attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work well in a collaborative, team environment.
