SaskTel is looking for a Civil Technologist \xe2\x80\x93 Communication Structure Specialist!

As a Civil Technologist in the SaskTel Corporate Services Towers Team, you will be responsible for a vast variety of duties and projects including: Communication Structure Audits, specification and RFP documentation creation, project management and coordination of intricate wireless telecommunication projects across the Province. Our Civil Technologists act as the prime on the majority of the wireless telecommunication projects that SaskTel undertakes including the development of greenfield sites, network modernization, maintenance \xe2\x80\x93 and they even get to climb and inspect Towers! POSITION OVERVIEW

Responsible for the planning, real estate, design, and construction of all projects and programs required for the administration, renovation, relocation, maintenance and new construction of Corporate facilities. Establishes strategic direction for Corporate assets. Develops comprehensive design solutions and contract documentation. Performs project management to achieve project objectives, budgets and building regulations.

TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
(Not all inclusive or applicable to all assignments) * Project manages the planning, design and construction of buildings and towers assets that ensure uncompromised network operating environments, SaskTel equipment survivability, and the safety and security of all Corporate staff.

  • Organizes, coordinates and directs internal staff and contract services to deliver excellent customer services. Confirms the value being received is acceptable when assessed against service satisfaction and cost.
  • Leads activities in establishing a strategic direction for the acquisition, allocation and disposal of SaskTel\xe2\x80\x99s facilities assets for retail, administration, equipment, towers and all properties required by SaskTel, its subsidiaries and outside agencies.
  • Ensures SaskTel\xe2\x80\x99s facilities are capable of meeting customer demands and providing all required services in the most efficient and cost effective manner. Analyzes future requirements. Establishes Corporate objectives. Develops Corporate plans and strategies to proactively optimize the utilization of real estate assets.
  • Reviews, coordinates, compiles data and cost estimates into presentations to gain approval and funds appropriation.
  • Develops and monitors the building and properties annual capital and operating budgets. Prioritizes and monitors spending to ensure the cost effectiveness of all projects.
  • Transforms the conceptual plan into a coherent, concrete set of solutions, documentation and specifications. Researches, designs and adheres to various regulations and project budgets.
  • Transforms construction documentation into operational documents. Commissions programs, building systems and equipment, and insures warranty compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Diploma in:
a) Architectural Engineering
b) Civil Engineering
c) Mechanical Engineering
d) Electrical Engineering
e) Interior Design
f) Environmental Engineering * Working knowledge of facilities management, typically gained through 3 years experience in a combination of the following:

a) Construction Project Management
b) Construction Contract Administration
c) Computer aided design software
d) Coordinating and Managing Consulting Engineers
e) Geotechnical testing and Construction Material Testing
f) Interior space design * Good investigative, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage projects in a self-directed environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with others.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and various software packages.
  • Membership in related professional association or ability to qualify to acquire status.
  • Valid Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License.
