Ekona Power is a Vancouver-based breakthrough energy technology company developing a novel methane pyrolysis platform for low-cost, clean hydrogen production. Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Buyer to support our team in procurement. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Buyer will oversee the Inventory & Procurement Coordinator and will work alongside the Technical Buyer.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Performs commercial bid evaluations for major capital equipment purchases
  • Develops and maintains Approved Vendor and Manufacturer Lists
  • Leads the tasks of setting up accounts and developing commercial terms and conditions with vendors
  • Develops a system to allow order tracking with costs, target delivery dates and follows up accordingly with suppliers for latest updates
  • Creates purchase orders and releases goods to departments. Creates purchasing plans based on lead times for goods, production forecasts and schedules
  • Oversees the work of the Inventory and Procurement Coordinator, providing guidance and training
  • Utilize our MRP system that will allow the efficient managing of costs, timing to build, buy and eliminate purchasing error. Once approved, implements and manages the utilisation of the system
  • Considers cost reduction opportunities through negotiations, efficient timing for shipment and cost breaks where possible
  • Other relevant duties

You Bring:
  • 5+ years of purchasing experience in an engineering or technology field.
  • Strong communication abilities both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • PMAC or CCLC accreditation (or similar) preferred
  • Flexibility to support other teams and groups \xe2\x80\x93 and call on them as required.
  • Good knowledge of thermodynamics, valves, seals, metals, and materials.
  • Proficiency in all office communication formats including MS office products.
  • Eligible to work in Canada
