Trouw Nutrition is hiring\xe2\x80\xa6 Senior Buyer-Agri Commodities to join our team in Okotoks, AB

In this role, you will be responsible for agri-commodities availability and procurement, risk management, cash strategy and will primarily support Alberta. You will demonstrate commitment, ambition and passion to deliver short- and long-term success through collaboration entrepreneurial spirit, innovative practices and strategic response to internal and external changes.

A DAY IN THE LIFE of our Senior Buyer-Agri Commodities

You have a keen understanding of commodity futures markets. We count on your experience and market expertise to continuously review and analyze market trends and supply conditions; determine requirements and purchase of bulk commodities from line companies, grain producers, and brokers. Success is related to your familiarity with basis contracts, pricing rolling and overall management and your ability to problem solve quickly and thoroughly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain/manage vendor contracts and negotiation of new purchase agreements for commodities
  • Present commodity market updates to customers, senior management team & sales staff
  • Work with key customers on opportunity sales of commodities
  • Further develop & execute direct grain buying strategy for Alberta and British Columbia
  • Maximize profits by providing innovative solutions
  • Continuously review and analyze market trends and supply conditions to assist with inventory management; Forecasts commodity usages in conjunction with stakeholders
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 5 to 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in procurement management in the agri-commodity markets;
  • Knowledge of procurement management using an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Agriculture or Business is an asset
  • Familiar with logistics and logistical challenges; understanding of logistics (rail, truck, and container)
  • Experience in the agricultural community is an asset.
