We\'re on the search for a dynamic professional to join our S&OP team in the role of Senior Buyer. Reporting to the Manager, Procurement, you will be responsible for tactically sourcing cannabis to support manufacturing and product development. You will also be able to perform end to end procurement activities while analyzing market and spend data. Strong vendor relationship management and a process improvement approach will be among the pillars for success.

As the Senior Buyer, you will\xe2\x80\xa6

Tactically procure cannabis to optimize facility and commercial operations.

  • Update and maintain supplier, product, and cost information in Sage and on purchase orders.
  • Ensure supplier compliance on KPIs (fill rate, on time delivery and PO order lead times).
  • Ensure invoice discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Set min / max inventory levels and communicate forecasts to suppliers.
  • Process the onboarding of new suppliers.
  • Ensure spend approvals are maintained in line with the delegation of authority (DOA) matrix
  • Expedite purchase orders where necessary to meet scheduling and product launch requirements.
  • Communicate order status exceptions, contract obligations, and post-receipt actions to all internal cross functional stakeholders.
  • Ensure optimized purchase order management which support production schedules, suppliers\' price break points and storage restrictions.
  • Route, ensure execution of NDAs and PO terms and conditions.
Strategically identify cost savings opportunities and develop market insights.
  • Demonstrate excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Conduct cost analysis on inbound materials and maintain optimal benchmark rates for cannabis.
  • Identify and resolve risks to supply continuity.
  • Support the sourcing and qualification of suppliers.
  • Issue and manage RFQs, providing recommendations to the Manager of Procurement.
  • Build and support strong long-term relationships with suppliers.
  • Identify waste and seek opportunities for cost reduction in the supply chain.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
Work cross-functionally with commercial, operations & QA to source and develop new materials sources.
  • This will include coordinating both the product qualifications & vendor set up activity.
  • Ensuring all cross functional team needs are recognized and met.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cannabis procurement.
  • Degree in business or certification in supply chain or related discipline (SCMP, CIPS, CPIM, CPSM)
  • 2+ years in production or manufacturing environment would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication, time management skills and ability to and prioritize.
  • Ability to mentor and coach direct reports.
  • Excel at working independently and with exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Computer literate with exceptional skills in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to create and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Worked with Sage X3 or other ERP systems, Microsoft Power Bi, Smartsheet, or other analytical tools
