Our Client who plays a vital role in Alberta's Energy Industry by ensuring public safety and the environment - and contributing to responsible, efficient, and safe energy development. Has an immediate need for a Business Analyst. This is a contract position for seven (7) months located in Calgary, Alberta.

Description

This project's primary goal of this project is to execute an RFP for an intranet platform and implementation services of a new intranet based on our client's M365 tenant. Our client is planning on redesigning the existing Intranet called "The HUB" and hosting it on the M365 platform. The existing intranet is hosted externally on Drupal and will be decommissioned as part of this project. Other innovations like social features and modernization will also be integrated at the same time.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the project manager, the candidate will be responsible for assisting with the RFP for the Hub Platform Replacement Project as provided in the project description.
  • The successful candidate must be comfortable working in fast moving and complex enterprise environments.
  • Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Conducts work remotely (where required) and runs workshops or requirement gathering sessions over MS Teams or other comparable remote meeting platform.
  • Preparing use cases and requirements documentation suitable for an RFP for both a platform an implementation services.
  • Participate and provide subject matter expertise in a SME capacity on RFP responses.
  • Provide/ assist with providing evaluation criteria and scoring for RFP.
  • Contribute to ideation and best practices on a redesigned intranet.
  • Accurately translate needs and desires of project stakeholders into goals and objectives.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability in applying business analysis methods/techniques for all phases of application development including, requirements analysis, design and development, testing, and maintenance of reports.
  • Individuals in this position have demonstrated experience in the standard concepts, practices, and deliverables related to Business Analysis in support of an Intranet or other similar Web Site projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to manage and document functional/non-functional requirements, test plans, test scripts, and reports.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience in requirements collection, development and execution of successful workshops, and meeting facilitation.
  • Strong requirements management experience (process) and proficient in the use of requirements gathering, documentation and prioritization tool.
  • Familiar with the MoSCoW style or other similar requirement prioritization system and how to manage this effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills, including ability to analyze data sources and design appropriate data presentation for diverse users.
  • Proficiency using MS-Office tools including Excel, MS-Visio, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent multi-tasking, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are critical.
  • Working with diversified internal and external stakeholders of varied levels of business knowledge and skills.
  • High level awareness of a variety of IT software development methodologies and tools.
  • Develop and track project targets and metrics
  • Good understanding and experience with database and data migrations
  • Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent education and 10 years' experience in Business Analyst roles.
  • Microsoft Azure certifications are a plus.
  • Recognized BA Certification is preferred
  • PROCSCI or ITIL certification is preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
Nice to Haves
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Preferably someone who has intranet upgrade experience
  • Experience with SharePoint or M365 a plus.
  • Experience with Drupal and Aquia hosting platform a plus
  • Working knowledge of Energy industry and system applications preferred but not required.
  • Awareness or working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Gathering and documenting functional and non-functional requirements
  • Creating project documentation
  • Working with key stakeholders to understand business impacts and to identify and coordinate resources to complete testing
  • Working with communications and change control to ensure appropriate change management and communication requirements are met
