We are currently seeking a Senior Bookkeeper to join our team.
This role is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and compliance in all fiscal activities. The Senior Bookkeeper will work closely with our Comptroller, as needed, to support strategic financial planning and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Provide financial leadership aligned with organizational policies, budgets, and strategic goals
Maintain robust financial systems and internal controls, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
Collaborate with program managers to develop, monitor, and manage budgets and financial plans
Ensure adherence to funding agreements and legal/contractual obligations
Prepare cash flow forecasts and ensure sufficient working capital for day-to-day operations
Produce accurate financial reports and documentation for the Board of Directors and stakeholders
Oversee detailed records of receipts, expenditures, reconciliations, and audit preparation
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and related financial records
Support financial planning and tracking for organizational events and initiatives
Perform other duties as required by the Executive Director or Human Resources
Qualifications and Experience
Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field
At least 1 years experience in a financial management or senior bookkeeping role.
Experience with Adagio accounting software is an asset
Advanced skills in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and accounting platforms
Clean Criminal Record Check
Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
In-depth understanding of financial legislation and regulations relevant to non-profit organizations
Knowledge of funding structures and financial practices specific to the non-profit sector
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated leadership with a collaborative, community-focused approach
Exceptional organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and professionalism
Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
