The Senior Bookkeeper will oversee the company's day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in all financial activities. This role requires strong construction industry experience, including knowledge of job costing, progress billing, subcontractor management, and project-based accounting

Key Responsibilities



Accounting & Financial Management



Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, credit cards, and petty cash. Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate coding to jobs and cost codes. Manage payroll and related reporting (including union/non-union, certified payroll, and prevailing wage reporting). Prepare and post monthly journal entries, accruals, and adjustments. Support month-end and year-end closing processes.

Construction Accounting



Set up and maintain job cost reports for all active projects. Reconcile project costs against budgets and communicate variances to project managers. Track subcontractor payments, , insurance certificates, and compliance documentation.

Reporting & Compliance



Produce accurate financial statements, cash flow reports, and management summaries. Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis. Coordinate with external accountants for audits, tax filings, and year-end reviews. Ensure compliance with local regulations.

Qualifications



Required:



Minimum 5-7 years of full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry. Strong knowledge of job costing Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks Desktop/Online, Sage 100 Contractor, or Viewpoint Intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $38.00-$43.00 per hour
