What you will do

Assist business units in realizing their stated objectives through the use of data assets and information products that enable better and faster decisions.

Ensure completed solutions meet specified requirements.

Effectively communicate and build rapport with team members.

Develop and build strong relationships within and across the lines of business and use effective communication skills to influence and accomplish strategic data warehouse architecture objectives.

Develop highly complex, mission critical reports, projects and applications.

Deliver professional quality of data analysis and ETL processes to reduce the high consequence of error.

Ensure documentation is maintained for all processes, internal and external audit requirements.

Build, test and deploy Power BI reports and dashboards across the organization (and/or help others do so).

Perform peer code reviews to ensure adherence to design, development and maintenance standards.

Contribute to design and development best practices and guidelines.

Provide knowledge transfer to the other members of the development team.

Support testing of solutions in all applicable environments.

Assist with training materials, and demonstrations.

Ensure issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner.

Participate in post-project implementation reviews or 'lessons learned', incorporating these lessons into appropriate process documentation, standards templates and checklists.

Ensure consistency across projects and platforms.

Assist in the development of current to future state architecture roadmaps.

Align and promote enterprise data assets principles and strategy.

Maintain deep expertise in frameworks, emerging technologies and best practices.

Mentor and develop less experienced technical staff.

Recommend new procedures and processes to drive desired results on diverse projects.

Provide technical leadership in both business-as-usual and crisis conditions.

Be an accountable, approachable, positive team member who is purposeful in their actions.

What you bring to this role

Education

Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.

Professional Experience

Minimum of 10 years' experience in data modeling, data management, metadata management, enterprise reporting, data visualizations, dashboards

Demonstrated ability to navigate between big-picture and implementation details

Experience in database and/or reporting environments incorporating Microsoft SQL Server technology.

Strong analytical skills and SQL expertise. Well versed in database technology and data warehouse design standards

Experience with ETL processes/tools

Working knowledge of TFS or equivalent project management, development management tools.

Experience in visual design and development utilizing Microsoft Power BI, Tableau or similar software.

Demonstrated ability to present data in an intuitive way and familiarity with data visualization best-practices.

Understanding of OLAP/multi-dimensional data organization techniques and one or more related languages (e.g. DAX; VizQL).

Education/experience with the Microsoft Azure cloud platform and tools is considered an asset

Education/experience in Advanced Mathematics and/or Statistics is considered an asset

Education/experience in Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence is considered an asset

Experience working on complex assignments requiring continuous periods of concentration, with periodic interruption.
