SENIOR ARCHITECT

The Design and Construction Branch is looking for a Senior Architect for a temporary position until March 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. The position is classified as an R\xc3\x89-06 ($83, 979 to $113,423 per annum).

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Chief, Building Architecture, the Senior Architect develops architectural plans, studies, designs and specifications documents for NCC projects. The Senior Architect also provides professional and technical advice to internal and external stakeholders (NCC employees, partners, government agencies etc.). The Senior Architect provides services ranging from advice at early project conception phases to the development of comprehensive design and contract documents for projects. The individual develops large and complex projects to the concept or schematic design level of detail to form a project basis of understanding before more detailed design work is carried out by external consultant teams. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: University degree in Architecture from an accredited Canadian university, or the equivalent as established by the Canadian Architectural Certification Board, if obtained outside Canada. MEMBERSHIP: Must be a member of l\xe2\x80\x99Ordre des Architectes du Qu\xc3\xa9bec (OAQ) or Ontario Association of Architects (OAA). EXPERIENCE: A minimum of eight (8) years of experience holding progressively significant responsibilities in Architecture.
KNOWLEDGE
  • Of the design process for entire projects (design guidelines, concepts, and design options).
  • Of construction detailing and preparation of tender-ready contractual documents.
  • Of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and Sketch Up.

ABILITIES
  • To communicate effectively both orally and in writing in both official languages.
  • To lead and work in a multidisciplinary environment characterized by an overlap of roles and responsibilities between different units.
  • To manage and prioritize various tasks and ensure compliance with quality work standards.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance.
  • Linguistic profile: Bilingual BBB.
  • Position is in the National Capital Region. The candidate must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace (40 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario).
ASSETS
  • Experience in Heritage Rehabilitation and Conservation projects.
  • Experience with performance based sustainable design standards and projects.
  • Proficiency in Building Information Modelling (BIM).
