Role Summary

In this position, you will be a key member of the Group Retirement Services (GRS) and Client Experience Office (CXO) Finance teams, supporting the development of Client metrics reporting and accompanying financial measures. Collaborating with peers and leaders across the Canadian business unit data centres, you will be responsible to design, create and evolve our data analytics platform to accelerate the development of reporting, insights and strategic initiatives for drivers of cash flows, churn, revenue generation and profitability. Successful candidates will possess more than 5 years of practical experience developing insightful reports/dashboards, drawing actionable recommendations from insights and demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and other stakeholders. The role requires creative problem-solving ability, excellent communication and presentation skills, a willingness to try new techniques, and the ability to handle several diverse and concurrent projects.

This role reports to the Director, Business Analytics.

What will you do?

Analytics & Business Insights

Support the development of Client metrics reporting processes, benchmarking and visualization to provide insights to stakeholders, by leveraging multiple data source systems and integration layers, using a variety of tools and programming languages

Act as a subject matter expert or technical team lead on projects, ask questions and develop hypotheses, apply descriptive statistics, diagnostic techniques to answer business questions

Apply financial business knowledge to improve the economics of key drivers in the highest value areas

Ability to draw out business insights from analytical output and work with team leads to put together effective presentations of actionable insights and recommendations to multiple levels of stakeholders

Maintain standards for analysis and reporting at all levels including best practice data visualization techniques

Data Management & Integrity

Provide expert guidance to design, develop, maintain and continuously improve various SAS databases to enable accurate, reliable and timely data to support analytics, modeling, reporting, visualization and dashboards/KPI's

Ensure all processes preserve data integrity by managing the alignment of data availability and integration processes

Data discovery - Liaison with IT and other analytics teams to scope new data sources, understanding and leveraging of current data sources to provide insights on revenue generation

Comply fully with all privacy, confidentiality, SLF Code of Business Conduct, data security, and other requirements related to Client data

What will you need to succeed?

Minimum of Bachelor degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience. MBA or post-grad degree in data analytics an asset

5+ years demonstrated experience working with data, including transformation and manipulation, using a variety of data analysis methods

5+ years intermediate to advanced knowledge in SQL, SAS

Advanced user of Excel with extensive financial modeling experience

2+ years experience using Tableau

Must be able to effectively communicate (written and verbal) complex results to a business audience not familiar with complex data and analytics

Ability to automate/develop complex reports &/or produce dashboards & scorecards & able to propose solutions to data issues

Ability to build partnerships and develop relationships with a variety of stakeholders

Good working knowledge of basic data warehousing concepts

Good working knowledge of presentation software such as PowerPoint

Proven balance of analytical and creative problem-solving skills

What will be nice to have?

Knowledge of the wealth management business

Experience with analysis of unstructured data

Experience gathering and integrating external data with internal data

Unique Requirements

Must be able to obtain Reliability Status through the Government of Canada before a start date can be confirmed (includes a background check with fingerprinting by the RCMP).

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
